Lightning flashed in the dark sky, making her tail shiver with electricity. It made her feel alive. It made her feel free. Briefly she recalled her kithood. For a moment, Thundris missed her mother’s warm eyes, and her father’s approving gaze, but she quickly pushed it away. Her parents hated her. They disowned her, they exiled her. There was never warmth or approval, only rejection. And why? Because of the power that crackled in her claws. She could have made her Tribe great! With the lightning that Thundris could harness, they could be more powerful than all the other Elemental tribes! But no, they saw her as dangerous. A threat to society, they said. Thundris shook out her wings. Best not to dwell on the past. She glanced at the slowly clearing sky. This wouldn’t do. She flicked her tail and lightning flashed to her left. Rain began to pour harder. Adrenaline rushed through her. She was powerful. She was alive. She was free.
