Click the block in the center of the screen. When you have 60 Scratch Points, notice that from the right side of the screen, a rectangle appears with a number. This number indicates the price of the artifact. The first artifact is a flag. It grants you 1 Scratch Point every 3 seconds. The next artifact is a variable, which is denoted by the word VAR. It costs 250 Scratch Points. It grants you 3 Scratch Points every 2 seconds. When the item you click reaches the width of the screen, your cursor upgrades, enabling you to click a wide variety of blocks. Get clicking!
