I do have one teacher who does this all of the time. He has also(not quite as many)done the same thing, but instead of asking for us to open our chrome books and then close them, he sometimes will tell a student who was absent for a day or a few days to ask another student what it is that they missed, and then once they ask the person next to them, the teacher will say, "please don't talk while I'm trying to teach." My teacher has this tone of speech though so that he will use words like please and thank you, so if you are just reading the words, it might seem as if he is being passive, and being really polite about it, but when he says it, it sounds quite forceful really. Most of the time, when a student who out came back, we do something called the Socratic method, which means that one person will say something, and then another person will be called on, and they either have to add onto what the last person said or if everything about the first topic has been stated, then they would get to start the talk about another subtopic in the category. This teacher does teach an advanced class, which for me and my classmates means that even though we are in sixth grade, we are learning seventh-grade things, and my teacher takes this quite seriously. If any of you guys have a teacher like this, comment about it below.
