Choices: A Hunger Games Short Liam- The careers raced out of ther camp, shouting with pure hatred. Liam stumbled back, clutching his arm and dark red stained his sleeve. He almost tripped over the supplies that Victoria had rapidly gathered, just in case they needed to run. Liam but back some words that he wished he could shout, but didn't because they were already defused. Then, he heard it. A thud. A cannon shot. The cry of pure horror. "Bella!" Carissa sank to her knees beside the fallen tribute, her hands already coated in dark, metallic blood. Victoria clasped a hand over her mouth. "Oh, god. Oh, god." She repeated. Ty stared in shock, blood dripping down his nose and falling into a small pool at his feet. Liam didn't realize he was walking over until he stood next to the two girls. He placed a hand on Carissa's shoulder, quiet, soundless. She needed to grieve. The dirt and blood that creased in a cut under her eye was slowly washed away, tears falling down her cheeks. "She trusted us. We failed her. No, /I/ failed her. If only I had fought harder, maybe-" Ty stepped up beside them with Victoria, who too had silent tears dripping from her glassy eyes. Liam was fighting the tears back, and he suspected Ty was too. "There was nothing more you could've done. You fought as hard as you could, and that is all we can ask," Ty said slowly. "We can't think of this as that she died /because/ of us. She died for us. We have to avenge her," Victoria whispered quietly. Carissa nodded blindly and stood, grabbing her bow and quiver, setting out into the woods. Ty looked at Liam as he stood. "We'll move the body out of camp. Can you follow her, make sure she doesn't, like, jump off a cliff or something?" Liam nodded, grabbing two knives from their supplies and setting off after Carissa. *********************************************************** He found her by a small alcove, holding a small brown pouch. A shining white crystal was counting in her hand as she tried desperately to carve something into it. Liam approached her slowly, not wanting to get impaled. "Carissa?" He said slowly. She turned to him, her eyes now filmed in a hard glaze. "Victoria's right. I have to avenge her," she growled, casting the crystal into the bag. Liam frowned. "She wasn't exactly meaning just /you/. She was kind of referring to us as a whole." Her fingers curled into a fist, her entire arm shaking. "I'm not losing you. Or Vic. Or Ty. No one else." She bit her lip and looked Liam dead in the eyes. "Ellie will /die/ for what she has done. And it will be to the tip of /my/ blade." Carissa- Carissa stood with Victoria, watching Ellie fall to the ground in hysterics. She trembled, foam forming at her lips. She was trembling, screaming nonsense. "Come on. We should go." Victoria grabbed her stuff, cast one last look at the vibrating tribute, and walked into the woods. Carissa thought back to that day, at the crystal cove. She had sworn to Liam that this girl would die for what she had done. Carissa wasn't one to go back on a promise. Ellie continued to roll in a fit on the ground, but Carissa assumed she was unconscious. She unsheathed her knife, sliding the flat part of the blade across Ellie's neck. A sneer ran across Carissa's face, bring the silver weapon to her adversary's forehead. "This is what you get." She hissed, pointing the tip in the space between Ellie's eyes. Then, after not a moments hesitation, she brought it down, causing a sputter of blood to emerge from the tribute's wound. It splashed on Carissa's hand, and she laughed maniacally. She was dead. And she deserved it.
