Elizabeth has been following me all day. I don’t know why though it could be because she has no friends yet seeing as she just moved to this school. She gives me the creeps though. My friends say I’m just being paranoid, but I don’t think so. Thinking about this I turn around and sure enough there she is. Elizabeth. I walk over intending to ask her why she’s following me but right as I go to take my first step I look up and realize she’s gone. It’s time for the last class of the day anyway then I can finally go home, I think. The last class is defense. Where we get to use our powers. Today is the ranking test so they will be testing us against our fellow classmates to test who is truly the strongest without numbers. Teacher: LINE UP ON THE LINE SO I CAN PAIR YOU UP! AT THE END THE WINNERS WILL KEEP COMPETING UNTIL THERE IS ONLY ONE LEFT STANDING. UNDERSTAND? Students: Yes Teacher: THAT’S YES SIR TO YOU. Students: Yes sir… Teacher: PEOPLE THAT KNOW EACH OTER WILL NOT BE PUT AGAINST EACH OTHER TO ENSURE THAT NO ONE WILL WINLLINGLY LET ANYBODY ELSE WIN. FIRST TWO UP IS JAMIE AND MATHESON! (Jamie and Matheson walk up to the mats and take their fighting stances) The first fight was good. I thought for sure Matheson was going to win because he’s 100 times bigger than Jamie, but Jamie beat him like it was nothing. After the first fight I zoned out until I heard this: Teacher: ELIZABETH AND BAILEY ON THE MATS! NOW. No, I think. Why do I of all the people in this class have to be paired up with the kid that’s always watching me all the time like she’s gathering intel or something… I climb up on the mat and take a fighting stance. I was winning at first. Until she pulled out insane karate or jujitsu or whatever those moves were straight out of her pockets along with her power Which was mind control. She beat me which kind of scared me because the girl that keeps watching me can easily take me in a fight and she knows it. I was ranked second, Elizabeth was ranked first, and Shelby is ranked third. Shelby: Good job bestie!! Second Is AWESOME! Bailey: Third is too! Don’t forget to be proud of yourself too! Shelby: I’ll try not to. Anyways are you riding the bus today? Bailey: No, I’m getting picked up. Shelby: Yikes you know what that means. Waiting for 20 minutes for your parents to come get you. Bailey: Sadly yes. I got to go, and you have to catch the bus so bye bestie! Shelby: Bye! See you tonight for the sleepover! Bailey: You too! I’m standing in the back of the school waiting now. I have my earbuds in so I can’t hear my surroundings. All I know is that there’s only one person let to be picked up and that’s Alex, but I see his mom’s car coming. Soon I’ll be alone. I don’t hear the footsteps coming up behind me after Alex leaves nor am I ready for what happens next. A cloth is in front of my mouth and a sickly-sweet scent is filling my nose and lungs until I’m falling… The last thing I hear before I pass out is Elizabeth’s voice saying: Yeah, boss I got her bringing her to you right now. When I come to, I’m in a dark room and I can’t move., Then I see a light, and someone walks in. No, I think; Just give me some time to remember what happened. They come to a stop in front of me then a voice: Wow she’s better in person. The most powerful person in the world. I can’t believe it great job Elizabeth. Now I can test on het to figure out how to re create this special power. It’s been a could weeks. I can tell because he gives me breakfast every morning. Then the “boss” walks out and Elizabeth walks in. She walks over and says I’m sorry I didn’t know he would do this. I thought he was trying to recruit you. Elizabeth: Yes. Nobody deserves to get treated like a science experiment. Bailey: Thank you thank you thank you thank you! She walks over and takes off the ropes holding my hands and legs. Then she leads me to an exit and were running. She gets caught though and I know I can’t turn bac without getting caught too. She’s yelling at me to keep running and that she’ll be fine, but I don’t think so. I turn around but I see the stern look on her face and keep running. “I’ll save you Elizabeth. I promise” Then I find the exit and leave.
