Hello there! Today I would like to request some of your time to inform you about accessibility on digital platforms! Digital platforms are spaces online. This includes websites, coding platforms, games, etc. While you may be able to go onto Youtube and watch/listen to a video, some people may find this difficult. I often find it frustrating when I want to watch a video and it doesn't have captions. Many content creators might not even think about adding captions to their video or Scratch project before they post. This can cause difficulty for someone who is hard of hearing as captions help us tremendously. While adding captions can be time consuming, it allows a wider spectrum of viewers to understand your post. Another thing to take into consideration is fonts. A lot of people like to use eccentric or fancy looking fonts for their aesthetic. However, someone with dyslexia or severe sight loss may encounter these fonts as an issue. Just because someone may experience blindness doesn't mean they don't go online. Typically someone with sight loss will use a computer program that reads words out loud to them. These computer programs cannot read words in fancy fonts though. This can cause problems for them because I have seen a lot of people use these fonts whenever they type something. Fortunately, more and more websites and platforms are adding accessibility features. There are also extensions that help people with ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, and more with reading. While these programs and extensions do exist, it is also up to you to make things more accessible. It is greatly appreciated if you take a little bit of your spare time to add captions to your project/video, type things without a fancy font, or use tone indicators. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk, have a good day /lh
