MYO * Shriek'lings ~ What is a Shriek'ling? ~ A furred creature about the size of a large cat, with a bat'like head, powerful hind legs and small forelegs. They are named after their ability to use sound-waves and sonic blasts to protect themselves from predators, and the 'second skull' on their tail is often used to help them cling or hang upside-down from branches. Their wings are a key feature of their movement, often using them to glide across gaps in the forest canopy. ~ How old do Shriek'lings get? ~ The longest recorded Shriek'ling lived to be 15 years old, with most young reaching maturity around 8 months and an average adult lifespan maxing out at around 10 years. ~ What do Shriek'lings eat? ~ Shrieklings play a vital role in their natural ecosystem by eating otherwise-harmful fungus and mushrooms whenever they come in quantities that could be harmful, as well as eating fruit, berries and creeping vines. When food is scarce (normally in the winter), Shriek'lings will eat tree bark and twigs to survive. ~ How do Shriek'lings reproduce? ~ This is largely unknown, except that when the season comes, their 'screeches' go from too-high-for-most-creatures-to-hear into a beautiful range of hoots, squeaks and squeals that are quite melodic (and adorable!). The Shriek'lings will make nests out of large leaves and twigs in the thickest part of the forest, then 'hatch' young Shriek'lings and look after them until they reach maturity, the majority of that time spent teaching their young different calls and how to find food. As far as we know, there are no biological genders/s*xes involved. It's probably magic. ~ Where do Shriek'lings live? ~ Shriek'lings usually live in the dense upper canopy of thick forests, where their shrieks and calls are normally mistaken for birds. Given their fairly short fur, they commonly retreat to 'dens' in the canopy (usually hollow tree trunks or abandoned bird nests) and gather in large numbers to keep warm in the winter. There are next to no Shriek'lings in captivity, and research is still continuing to gather information about their behaviour in the wild. ~ How do I get a Shriek'ling OC? ~ Either MYO (make your own) using the base provided, or adopt one of the open adoptables! Use this 'form' when remixing for your Shriek'ling to be 'cannon' (Cannon Shriek'lings can be used in official things like the RP and Storage Studio, non-cannon Shriek'lings may need to re-apply with the form to become cannon): Name: Gender: Personality: Sexuality: Fear/s: (if any) Age: (in months/years) How powerful is their screech?: (10: max power, 1: mute) Backstory: (if any) Anything else / Extra: (if any) ((PLEASE DON'T USE A COMMENT FOR THIS FORM, USE A REMIX!))
