They pass time by reading the many books of the library , enjoying literally any genre. When meeting new people , Atsuko would greet them politely and try not to burst on book topics-- they're afraid that the others would see them as a book nerd . Sometimes they would read their own made-up story to a wandering kitten that comes across the attic, who often ends up sleeping with them that night. They also keep a large book with their own-written stories in it . They have a dream to own their own library , or perhaps a bookstore. Atsuko is also extremely emotional sometimes , especially after an important de@th in one of their favorite book series . - - - - - : art - @muffinn- design - @tofumilk code - @colorsnatch story (wtae below) - @muffinn-
another wtae;; The hazy sunlight was streaming through the small window, letting Atsuko relish the warmth. They were sitting, mind-deep in one of their favorite book series of the Grishaverse, specifically "Ruin and Rising," by Leigh Bardugo. Their eyes skimmed the page like a hawk searching for prey, the words easily read in Atsuko's mind. They were soon to be done with the book, and then it was time to choose another series. Suddenly, the book slipped from their paws and tumbled to the ground. "I guess I shouldn't flip pages that fast," they mumbled and leaned over to pick up the book. As they did so, a paw lay on their shoulder. "Huh?!" Instinctively, Atsuko spun to face a young cat, abandoning all thought of picking up the book. The young cat-- no, kitten-- barely squeaked in fright and stumbled backward, eyes widening. "Oh, sorry," Atsuko flushed, lending out a paw. The small kitten mumbled something and got up itself. "What's your name? Where're your parents?" Atsuko asked, worried that it might've gotten lost, and ended up climbing the ladder that led to the attic / here. The kitten's eyes were unusually clouded, as then it grew watery. Its lip started to tremble. "Oh! Oh no, don't cry! It's okay, you don't have to tell me," stammered Atsuko, grabbing the kitten without thought and hugging it warmly. [ Something must've happened, ] Atsuko thought, releasing the kitten from their hold. "Want to hear a story?" they asked. The kitten became excited and nodded vigorously. "Hmm." Atsuko's eyes scanned the books after themself. Most of them weren't for kittens, they realized, and cleared their throat. "Perhaps I'll tell you a tale of my own," they simply said, pushing down the rushing panic of how they've never made their own story before. But they shoved it aside and cleared their throat again. [ time skip ] "And that's how the pigeon outsmarted the cats," they finished, grabbing their nearby bottle of water and taking a long drink. The kitten's eyes were drooping, obviously tired. The sky was a vivid orange, the sun already halfway below the surface. "I guess you can sleep with me tonight," murmured Atsuko, carefully picking up the kitten and tucking it in with a fluffy, warm blanket. That night was the first time Atsuko didn't feel lonely.
