A recreation of the classic 1984 Amiga Boing Ball demo, but rendered using Pen only. Just watch.
I took a shortcut with the shadow shape, but otherwise it is pretty faithful to the appearance of the original. The rendering method is totally different though (read more below), since I challenged myself to make it with Pen only. I used this video as reference: https://youtu.be/-ga41edXw3A The sounds were created with BeepBox. I used the panning effect to create a stereo experience. The original demo actually had stereo sound as well, thanks to a fun feature on the Amiga - the four sound channels were divided into two left speaker channels and two right speaker channels. Interestingly, in the original demo, the ball was pre-rendered, and the apparent rotation was accomplished using color cycling - very clever. This project by @gav_ takes greater liberties with the appearance, but the animation method (using pre-rendered costumes) is actually much closer to the method used in original demo: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23985240/ Some resources on the subject: http://www.generationamiga.com/2020/04/14/amiga-history-the-story-of-the-boing-ball/ https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2007/08/a-history-of-the-amiga-part-3/3/ https://amiga.lychesis.net/special/ColorCycling/Boing.html https://www.sca.ch/amiga/guests/boing.html Thanks to @TheLogFather for the triangle filler: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/24828481/
