Bone and Dusk are two littermates who ran from the Sister's Steppe after a no-mane killed their father and the leader of the pride, Scarmane, to avoid being killed, acompanied by their mother, Quickstep. Bone is the older of the two cubs, yet his little sister, Dusk, is more bold than he is and is way more protective, not to say Bone doesn't have any fighting skill in him. Bone refused to be called his name after their escape as he didn't see himself worthy of it. The first night they left the sister steppe, Dusk was given her name by Quickstep, who felt she didn't want to give her daughter a pride name, yet she kept her own. Bone manages to kill a no-mane competing for food and takes one of their fangs as a trophy and a reminder to himself and others that he's not one to be trifled with and is the leader of his 'pride' while they're living on the stretch (despite Dusk being more of a leader-) and allows himself to be called Bone again. After being met with the leader who killed Scarmane a few months later, however, Dusk and Bone kill him and takes their pride back, and Bone is made mane of the pride and Dusk the hunt chief, making their mother proud.
