Asha survives and is invited to help raise the Dragonets of Destiny. She's thrilled. This is a dream come true! She gets to actually help raise the tiny heroes who are going to stop this horrible war and save the world! She is friendly and hopeful. She teaches Clay all about Mudwing Culture and promises that once they end the war she'll help him find his sibs. She humors Tsunami's dream of being a princess (Webs and Kestral don't share the truth with her). And brings as many scrolls as possible to Starflight. She isn't sure about Glory, but is kind and reassuring, stating that fate is a funny thing, and Glory might just have a bigger fate than all of them. Asha and Sunny get along VERY well, they have similar hopeful and happy personalities, and Asha greatly influences Sunny's sense of duty to the prophecy. When Morrowseer shows up she stands up to him. after he leaves, she convinces the other guardians that killing Glory would be wrong. Webs has a soft spot for Glory as he is the one to bring her here, and Dune doesn't really care one way or another. Kestral still pushes to follow Morrowseers orders, but Asha and Webs talk her down and manage to convince her that Morrowseer might be wrong, in which case killing Glory could ruin the prophecy. Kestral gives in and they tell the dragonets that if Morrowseer ever returns Glory must hide, and the others must act as if she is long dead. All in all the Dragonets of Destiny our MUCH happier, and they don't try to escape. instead they wait two more years, and in the meantime, a LOT of stuff happens. Outside of the peaceful happy cave, the war is still raging, the Nightwings are still plotting, and everyone is desperately waiting for the fabled Dragonets of Destiny. In the Sky Kingdom, not much changes, except that at one point Ruby says something to Peril about killing her sister (yells it actually) and finds out that Peril in fact did NOT kill Tourmaline. Ruby doesn't realize that she is her own sister, but she stops blaming Peril and begins to pity the socially outcast monster. Ruby begins to go out of her way to be kind to Peril, slowly winning her loyalty. Their budding friendship is helped when Cliff hatches, and Peril takes it upon herself to guard his door and keep him safe, seeing him as the little brother she never had, and trying to find a way to forgive herself for killing her own twin brother. Scarlet is still the undisputed Queen, but she is slowly losing her grip on her champion, whether she knows it or not. In the Ice Kingdom even less changes, in fact everything continues on the same as ever, except that Hailstorms seventh hatchday comes and goes and Winter mourns his brother again, knowing that if he were alive, he would have been at the top of the wall. But Icewings beware... for trouble is coming to find you. In the Scorpion Den, Thorn continues to search for her lost egg. As she realizes that simply controlling the Scorpion Den isn't enough to find her precious Beetle, she begins to speculate and strategize, forming a plan to increase her small criminal empire, and expand her one town domain. Nothing really changes in the Mud Kingdom. in the Kingdom of Sea, Anemone, fed up with life in the harness and her mother's overbearing caution. takes a risk and casts a spell to find who is killing the eggs. discovering the statue she destroys it, in time to save her two unhatched sisters. After her success with that spell she casts one to find the father she never met, and saves Gill from Scarlets arena just in time, fixing both his mind and his dehydrated body with magic. Coral, overjoyed to have two new daughters and her beloved husband back, nervously allows Anemone more freedom. and Gill is able to talk to and forgive Turtle in person. Darkstalker wakes to the Comet and begins to go insane, trapped with nothing to do and only Stonemover far above to listen to. The only thing that keeps him going is the occasional new dragon that passes by, and the promising visions of a young Nightwing...
In the Rainforest is where things get... interesting. Mangrove searches fruitlessly for Orchid but finds nothing. Meanwhile on the Nightwing island the volcano erupts long before expected. The Nightwings panic and flee across the sea, as the lava blocks the tunnel. but not before one young Rainwing makes it home. Kinkajou is able to fly free when her guards bolt, and she nervously makes her way toward the tunnel. She try's once or twice the help the other Rainwings, but her efforts are fruitless, and she barely escapes with her life. Back in the Rainforest, Moon find Kinkajou sobbing near the tunnel, usually she would heed her mother's advice and hide. but she can hear this Rainwings thoughts and knows she could really use a friend. The terrifying images of lava and fleeing Nightwings, also makes her worry for her mother. And she hopes that this sad Rainwing can maybe tell her more. Kinkajou is at first suspicious and scared of the strange Nightwing, but when Moon tells her that she has grown up in the Rainforest, she tells her everything. the experiments, the fear, the kidnapping, the explosion and confusion, and most of all the terrible regret that she couldn't save the other Rainwing Prisoners. Moon is horrified, her mother occasionally hinted at what the Nightwings were planning, but she never told her about all of THIS! seeing how shocked and horrified Moon is, Kinkajou is satisfied that she means no harm, and wants to repay her for being friendly. Kinkajou invites Moon back to her home, and Moon accepts, angry and hurt at her mother's lies, and terrified about what might happen next. as the two head towards the Rainwing Village they run into Mangrove, who recognizes Kinkajou as one of the missing Rainwings. He asks her about Orchid and is filled with sorrow and anger at the news of her death. He decides that enough is enough! and decides to confront the Rainwing Queens about their irresponsible behavior. most of the Queen brush him off or ignore him. but Grandeur is nearly as furious as he is. Why wasn't she told about this? Why did the other Queens not tell her? She expels the other Queens from HER throne and promotes Mangrove to her second in command. Together they begin to rebuild the Rainwing army, using extra nap time and fancy fruit to pay some Dragons, and seeking out the few Rainwings that are willing to actually work as commanders and actual soldiers. the new army is mostly comprised of old Dragons who are good at this sort of thing, but getting old, young Dragons ready for adventure and glory, and normal Rainwings, just here for the extra fruit. But they have a secret weapon on their side... Meanwhile the Nightwings have fled to Blister, who has arranged to have them stay on some of the Seawings Islands. However, this is only a temporary solution. and Blisters alliances are starting to show cracks. Grandeur sends Mangrove and several other more serious Rainwings out to invisibly scout the world, and report back any rumors of Nightwings. Learning of their temporary home in the Kingdom of Sea, she decides to try something risky. She herself, along with Mangrove, several other Rainwings, and Moon, who has revealed her powers to Kinkajou, Grandeur, and a few others she has come to trust, travel north. They reach Blazes stronghold and manage to gain an audience with her and Queen Glacier. Moon reveals her powers and also shares how her mother told her that she is the first Nightwing in a long time to have them. Glacier is surprised and furious at this and asks if this means the prophecy is fake. Moon hesitates, she knows from her mother's mind that the prophecy is indeed false, but she also sees in all the dragon's minds she meets how desperately they hope and need this prophecy to be true. Unwilling to crush so many dreams but not wanting to lie, she shrugs and says that even she doesn't know all the answers. Glacier settles for that but is still suspicious. Grandeur then reveals how the Rainwings now hate the Nightwings and want to enact revenge for their fallen comrades. She proposes that since both tribes hate the Nightwings they work together to attack them and drive them out of this war for good. Grandeur does say that she won't allow a full-on genocide to occur, but she wants to kill both the new Queen Greatness (Battlewinner died in the eruption) and Morrowseer. Glacier agrees, she hates and detests the Nightwings but her conscience cannot justify wiping out an entire tribe. Moon see's this in her mind and takes a liking to the Icewing Queen, sensing that Glacier is kinder than she lets on, and wondering about the reoccurring hateful thoughts that dart through her mind, often not connected to the Queens thought train and always following the same pattern, almost as if they aren't real... The two Queens set a date for the attack, and decide that Glacier should try to contact Burn, to see if she will join the offensive. That's all for now. I will make a new project for part two.
