ahah this project has been sitting at the bottom of a google doc for awhile so I slapped on some spring colors and made it nice n pretty for y'all ⇜ ✾ ⇝ ❁ Does the title sound weird?? It sounds weird to me but I don't know why, I just haven't done this in awhile ":) ⇜ ✾ ⇝ Double Standard ❁ "a rule or principle which is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups". Ex. Straight couples being romantic in public is cute, but gay couples being romantic in public is inappropriate. ⇜ ✾ ⇝ ❁ Overall, this project was created to help us think about what we expect from cishet people when it comes to supporting LGBTQ+ people. ❁ When people state LGBTQ+ people deserve the same treatment as cishet people, then go onto complain about respecting pronouns and name changes being 'difficult' it really highlights the double standards when it comes to how cishet and gay issues are treated. ⇜ ✾ ⇝ ❁ Also, if you're planning on commenting something about neopronouns being harder, or new names being hard to get right, just don't. ❁ I have a trans friend who I've known for 8 years. He came out and socially transitioned about 3 years ago. I had a very minimal understanding of trans people back then, but was still able to gender him correctly, even though I've known him by his dead name for much longer. ❁ It can take awhile to learn to pronounce certain pronouns, like how it can take awhile to learn to correctly pronounce words in different languages. But with practice, you can get it right and get used to it. ⇜ ✾ ⇝ Credits: ❁ Music: 'Something Entirely New' from Steven Universe ❁ Visuals: Canva ⇜ ✾ ⇝ Tags: ❁ #lgbtq #informational #trans #gay #ace
