Happy 15th Birthday Scratch!!!!!!! - What does Scratch mean to you? - Scratch means SO MUCH to me! I have been playing for about 4 and a half years now and I have made life changing friendships! Studios especially have been incredible, and I still have fond memories of my old warrior cats studios I thrived in. - How has Scratch impacted your life? Scratch has had such an impact on my life, which is probably obvious considering I'm still here after all this time. It's my childhood, it's a place of comfort. Everything is so creative and wholesome and it's beyond inspiring to think about all the different things that can be accomplished with this platform! - What is your favorite part of Scratch that you’d like to celebrate? Our "cringey" childhood projects. Those things that never got released or at some point got taken down because they were your awkward days on scratch. It was projects like that which truly show how you grow over the course of your time on scratch. It's mindblowing to look back at where you started years ago and where you are now. - What do you hope for the future of Scratch? I hope that scratch will continue to be a safe and wonderful creative outlet for young people. (Here I am sounding like an old person, I'm only a high schooler!). Whether you're an animator, artist, gamer, coder, whether you have a future in STEM, a possible art career, or it's just a hobby. I hope scratch will be used as a platform for the growth and development of those skills. - How did you learn about Scratch? The first time I heard of scratch was in a computer class at school. Of course, it was the most boring class ever so I paid little attention to it, which now I regret. The second time I interacted with scratch was at a girl's STEM convention. One of the 5 big activities was coding a story with scratch. I was so inspired after the convention I went home and went to sleep. BUT in the morning I set up my scratch account easy peasy! I started making projects here and there until I discovered the social aspect of scratch. I dove into studios headfirst and fell in love with scratch all over again. It's the wholesome environment, creativity, and friendly scratchers I've befriended that make it impossible to leave!
