/ᐠ ᐟ\ ( . ｡ . ) -pendiinq's online /づ \づ ————————— ─── ─── ─── ─── ──[ep. 2 c o n t e n t s ᵐᵉᵒʷ₊˚⊹ ————————— i. recently.. ii. how its racist iii. asian h4te/BLM iv. this must stop v. anonymous story ————————— i. recently.. ʰᵉʸʸ₊˚⊹ ————————— T-T i honestly shouldn't be posting about this but- *siGhHH* recently i saw a comment on the studio "the aesthetic community" i continued to read it and i 100% agree so i have decided to write about it here for you to see. the comment itself will be part of the anonymous story below, so feel free to skip ahead. ——————————— ii. how its racist. ᵘᵍʰʰ₊˚⊹ ——————————— so before i can explain how its racist you must know what i'm talking about. people using everyday asian girls on banners & thumbs. i can't say i haven't done it before because yes i have. but honestly these are just girls who have their photo online. how is it racist? well i understand if its a specific celebrity but if your choosing somebody random off the internet for no SPECIFIC reason then its racist. ——————————— iii. asian h4te/blm ᵉʳᵐ₊˚⊹ ——————————— so obviously in 2020 we had blm (black lives matter), then theres asian hate, and then theres the fact we're equal. for some reason people... especially adults can't seem to remember that people are different. its obviously not just blm/asians, its muslim, its religous & racism is hate to a specific type of human race, so theres plenty more people out there suffering from racism. ——————————— iv. this must stop ˢʳˢˡʸ₊˚⊹ ——————————— now i can rant as much as i want but that's not gonna stop anything. yes it might if i'm lucky, spread awareness but guys- i'm doing this for the next 3 people who see this, i'm doing it to try stop things. most people won't read this far but if i have, try something new, try something to stop the h4te cycle. it won't stop completely but you might un-hinge something & really change somebody's life. ——————————————— v. story time guys ˡⁱˢᵗᵉⁿ ᶜˡᵒˢᵉˡʸ₊˚⊹ ——————————————— so this is the original comment thread that sparked this episode so feel free to read through it.. i feel like the person would appreciate it if you did <3 Okay so this might be controversial, but I'm greatly offended for many reasons by aesthetic Scratchers using "cute" pictures of people and models who are Asian or Asian-American/European, and usually Korean, as a profile photo, banner, thumbnail, or really anything, to be "aesthetic", for the following reasons. // 1. Race and ethnicity: To me, it seems disrespectful and a bit racist in a way to use people of a certain race or ethnicity as something that's supposed to be like a pretty, aesthetic thing. It doesn't seem right to use Korean people and outfits as a "trend", especially if that isn't your own culture. It seems so disrespectful. People are not trends or objects, and we should all respect that. // 2. Stereotypes: I think it's unrealistic and unhealthy to idolize a certain look or style; it can lead to self-doubt, wishing to change your appearance, and toxic things like Asian-fishing. I once saw an aesthetic Scratcher who used an image on their profile banner of a young, pale Korean girl, and their banner text read, "It's a gift to be this pretty." That just made me so sad that there are people who seem to think that to be pretty, you have to look like a young Korean person posting filtered selfies on social media. Of course, I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with these types of people, but I just hope young people understand that this is not realistic to real life, and everyone is beautiful in a different way. // 3. Inclusiveness: Possibly my biggest issue is a lack of diversity. Have you ever, /ever/ seen an "aesthetic" image of a model that is black person, plus-sized, disabled, non-binary or trans, has a skin condition, or uses some kind of medical device like a wheelchair or hearing aid? I, for one, have not. Not every Asian model is slender and pale skinned with "perfect hair", features, and skin! I am extremely disappointed in the lack of inclusivity seen in aesthetic images. If people will continue to use images of specific ethnic models, I encourage you to try to find diverse photos if you can. // Wow, sorry that took so long!
