Story time! We had a bunch of people over at the house about a week ago. I, being the designated baby sitter for the moment was showing some of the kids my pet snake. Two of them asked if I was a boy or a girl (they're like 4 and 7 i think) forgetting for a moment that their parents might not support the queers, and also not wanting to explain genderfluid to smoll children, I replied "neither actually. I'm what you call non-binary. I'm not a boy or a girl." Can you guess what these girls did? Hint: it wasn't getting confused like so many homophobic people say will happen. They said "oh... Okay." And moved on. Today I saw them again and while admittedly they used my birth pronouns, they occasionally would pause and go "and *birth pronoun* *points at me* *pause* it can be the witch!" for example (I don't think they thought about they/them being a pronoun set and they're little so no judgement for using it/its without asking). So for all those arguing that anyone who is not cisgender and heterosexual would be "confusing to the kids" here is your proof that no, in fact, it's not confusing if you simply don't suppress it in the first place. (Also there's a similar story with my own siblings so it's not just a one off event)
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this little ray of sunshine, have a great rest of your day! (If it's night time, then have a great night and try to get some sleep mkay?)
