SPAM FLAG! --- Characters: -Rae (brown, maned lioness) -Kijani/Quinn (golden, maned lioness) Minor characters: -Gill (leader of Rae's pride) -Mfalme (lion that takes over Rae's pride) -Mstari (Quinn's father and leader of her pride) -Swift and Yew (Rae's fathers) -Safana (Quinn's mother) -- Story -- Rae and Kijani were born as Sunray and Quinnjar, respectively, into their individual prides. These prides were odd little pockets of lions adapted to the cold, living in the mountains. Rae led a happy childhood, as her pride's leader, Gill, was overall a fun and calm guy. Her fathers, Swift and Yew, were males that never quite made it past the level of 'lioness' in terms of mane-ness, so they lived in the pride and fulfilled lionesses' roles. While Rae's childhood was a good one, Quinn's was not. Quinn, unlike Rae, was born with a tuft of mane, and her parents believed gender was only expressed by mane and voice. Thus, she was named with a traditionally male name—Quinnjar. So, for the first few months of her life, Quinn was a male in her parents' eyes—that is, until she spoke, and her voice was distinctly female. Her father claimed her having a mane was unnatural and decided to send her away, though her mother begged him to let Quinn stay until the age of leaving for young males. Quinn didn't hear this part and didn't know she was to be sent away. Quinn reaches young adulthood, her mane growing faster than the young males around her. She overhears a member of her pride talking about how she'll be sent away, and how it will please the Gods. Quinn is furious at her father, but she can't do much, because he orders her to leave and has almost the whole pride backing him up. Quinn flees the pride, blinded by tears and rage. Thankfully, she is suited for hunting, and knows how to take care of herself, but she stews alone in her anger for far longer than she should. Rae, meanwhile, is living the dream. Her entire pride loves her, and she milks that every second. Rae developed her mane, though it was far smaller than a male's, when Quinn's was filling out. Rae is happy, but that doesn't last very long when Mfalme, Quinn's unknown half-brother, arrives and kills Gill, taking over the pride. He has the same views on maned lionesses as his father and prohibits Rae from returning to the pride. Rae has been coddled all her life, as well as being a very small lioness, so it is nearly impossible for her to hunt for herself. Quinn encounters a nearly-frozen, injured Rae in the snow one night while hunting. Taking pity on the tiny lioness, Quinn drags her out of the snow and into a slightly warmer spot, offering her food. Rae and Quinn talk to each other and find out that they share a similar past. Angered by how Quinn had been treated by her father, Rae suggests they stick together, and Quinn hesitantly accepts. Upon finding out about the origin of Quinn's name, Rae is furious and suggests the two of them change it. Quinn renames herself to Kijani, but keeps Quinn as a nickname. The two, fast becoming friends, journey across the mountains and end up in the African savannah. They encounter the young rogue Fin, who attempts to charm them (albeit very poorly). Rae and Quinn fight over him, each trying to keep each other away from Fin (though they don't seem to realize neither actually wants him). Things go poorly when Fin starts to act abusively towards both lionesses. Quinn's not happy with this, as it gives her memories of her childhood, but Rae is furious. She attacks Fin and pins him to the ground. With one bite, she kills him, and Quinn is massively swooning. The two finally make up and continue traveling together, but this time as be gay do crime B)
