It's always funny to me how you can have the worst night of your life and then still have to go to school. I barely slept the previous night; I was still so unnerved by Mom's flicker. I walked to school, still wrapped up with Mom's timer when I ran into my classmate. Literally. I looked up and Geo was standing there, holding a cup of spilled coffee or something. "Sorry, Geo." I mumbled. Another classmate, Otter, ran over, grinning. "Hey, Kim!" She said, adjusting the canister of pepper spray in her pocket. "What's wrong? You look off." I glanced up at the timers above their heads. Good. Nice long numbers. No flickering, perfectly- ~glitch~ I froze. No, I just need to stop staring at timers, because then they're going to know something's up, then I'm going to tell them what's happening, then they're gonna be confused and think I'm a freak, then they're gonna ask more, then I'm gonna tell them about Eric and Mom- "Hi Otter!" I said, forcing a smile that was waaaaaay too overenthusiastic. Otter grinned and stared at me. "Is she okay?" She whispered to Geo while maintaining her inhuman grin. "Should I spray her?" She asked, pointing at the pepper spray. Geo looked at her like she was crazy and shook his head. "No!" He said, laughing. "Uh, no. No, I'm fine, it was just... a weird dream." I said, brushing hair out of my face with my fingers. Geo looked concerned. "You know you can tell us if something's wrong, right?" No, no, I could not, because that wouldn't make sense and then you'd probably end up wondering where your timers are and I shouldn't tell you, I thought. "Um, yeah, yep, everything's fine." I rushed as I turned around and walked to school. I didn't look back, but I definitely heard their conversation. "I don't think she's telling the truth." Geo said. "I still think we should spray her." Otter grinned satisfactorily.
Geo - based on @cs4235559. Otter - based on @ottersrdabest. They're so fun to write in and they may reappear! Let me know if you want to be in it too. helped me write this one! That means I can say this: I blame Sam for the pepper spray.
