The brown colourpoint cat is a kittypet named Beans. The light grey StarClan cat is an apprentice named Ripplepaw (kittypet name: Ripple) Beans and Ripple grew up as kittypets. Ripple loved to explore the “Clan” territory to see if she could make friends with them, while Beans just wanted to be a good kittypet. Ripple eventually convinced Beans to explore the creek that had strange cat scents on it. They had barley set paw in the fish smelling cat territory when a fox leapt out at them. Beans was terrified, and fled, while Ripple wanted to stay and fight. Ripple was badly injured, when she was found by Mapleleaf, Stoneshatter, and Creekfern. The RiverClan cats fought the fox off, and dragged Ripple back to their camp to be healed by the medicine cat, Willowleaf. Ripple didn't go back to their house that night, instead, she had forced her way into the Clan. Beans was adopted, while Ripple became Ripplepaw. A fateful morning, Beans woke up, and felt a hollow in her chest. She knew, even though she didn't know how, that Ripple had died. Ripplepaw was out doing some late night fishing, to prove that even though she wasn't a kittypet, she could still swim. She drowned, caught under a willow branch. Beans' owners wondered why their usually playful cat was so upset. They let Beans outside, and she jumped over the fence, and curled up in the fish smelling territory, the same area that Ripple and Beans had found a fox. She dreamed of Ripple, as a starry cat, visiting her, and Beans asked for forgiveness. Ripple, with a cheeky glint in her eye said that she'd think about it. The two touched noses, and Ripplepaw never visited Beans again… except when Beans ran away from home for a night, and slept in the area. Beans' owners planted a tree from a willow tree branch in their garden. And that branch was the one that had killed Ripplepaw.
