The sharp wood jabbed into pads as she wobbled on top of the wooden fence. Letting her eyes gaze over the other side and was almost amazed to see it was just grass. Her ears lowered as she softly landed eyes scanning the boxed area. Strange scents and smells filled her mouth as she inhaled causing the she-cat to shake her head. Nightpaw stepped forward hoping and almost praying for some type of memory of this place. The almost barren oak tree that was standing high casting shade over the already dark cat. The shrubs that lined the wooden wall. Nothing came to her mind. Finally she looked ahead at the large two-leg den ahead of her, soft grass changed to hard stone at her paws as she walked towards the light glow coming from within, an entrance just a few tail lengths ahead of her. She didn’t notice at first but her heart was racing and her ears were folded to her head. Glancing back she could see the trees that were where she should be right now, in her nest sleeping, yet she was here ready to walk into a two-leg den on the word of her leader saying that her parents are there. Whiskers twitching she stepped forward and felt the strange surface press against her ears as she pushed through it. Opening her eyes she was welcomed with warm light, the room around her was strange. As her eyes scanned the area around her her eyes landed on a nest much like one like hers yet it wasn’t made out of moss. Instead it was brightly colored and looking closer her eyes widened as she saw a moved back of fur facing her. A noise of surprise left her mouth as she jolted back causing the cat to turn and look at her with sea green colored eyes. Quickly she pulled back and was turning to leave when a frantic voice came from behind her. “Wait!-” Just as Nightpaw stood in the center of the grass she turned around to see a black and white she-cat staring at her with wide eyes, a collar around her neck showing her title of a kitty pet. “What are you doing here? Most strays don’t just walk inside like that. What if my humans see you!” The strange she-cat expressed with concern as she padded over. She was shorter than her with silky white fur, Nightpaws eyes narrowed, she could never be a warrior with her fur well kept. “Hey I'm talking to you…are you mute?” she asks softly as she approaches head tilting as her round eyes look the dark she-cat over. “You don’t look injured…but you do look thin, are you hungry? I’m sure I can get you something inside!” She purred happily looking up at her. “N-No I’m ok just looking for someone,” Nightpaw finally responded while straightening herself. “Oh? Who are you looking for? Maybe I can help, I know almost everyone that’s here,” she said softly. “Petal what are yo-” another voice chirped up behind the she-cat and Night looked over the she-cat and saw a pair of wide eyes. Eyes that stared at her with surprise and shock. Slowly the cat walked towards her, head lowered and eyes looking into hers. Just as the gray she-cat stopped in front of her she spoke. “Night?” her voice was weak and almost in disbelief. Just like if she confirmed it, tears welled up in the older she-cats eyes as a soft shaking purr followed, “Night I never thought I’d see your black pelt again…” she whispered as she brushed against her to rest her head on her shoulder in a silent embrace. Night stood frozen heart racing, she didn’t think it was true. That her family was standing in front of her. Tears welled up in her eyes. Feeling the weight of her mother resting against her and hearing the soft gasp of the white she-cat Nightpaw buckled and let out soft cries as she allowed herself to cry. “I finally found you,” she whispered, allowing herself to cry into her pellt like a kit would to her mother. At that moment the life back in Thunderclan and the emotions put on by Vineripple leaving her as she just allowed herself to let go knowing her family were near.
With soft paws she entered the apprentice den and just as her eyes rose she saw the gray fur of Thornpaw sitting in her nest. Almost as if the tom felt her staring he turned his head and imminently went to his paws, “There you are! Are you ok?” he whispered as Night made her way over to him. “I’m ok…just talked with Vine and needed some time alone to think,” she said as she layed down in her nest with heavy shoulders. Thornpaw looked over at the empty nest of Vinepaw for a few, held on, moments before looking back at his kithood friend. “What happened?..I know you two don’t have..the *best* relationship, but may-” “She yelled at me, saying she hates me, and that I’m trying to replace her sister…” Nightpaw cut her friend off with a sad look. Sighing softly Thornpaw laid down next to her, “I’m sorry I know you were trying to help Night…” he said softly resting his head down. “It’s alright Thornpaw…I’m used to it,” she replied, allowing herself to close her eyes. Darkness filled her vision and she could smell the earthy scent off of the tom. It calmed her and easily allowed the black furred she-cat to fall asleep. Not knowing that her fur was hot because of the tom’s soft purring next to her.
