Happy Autism Awareness Month!! I've seen projects like this pop up, and I want to be a part of it too! The idea is if you have any questions related to Autism, ask away! I was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) VERY young, and within the past year was diagnosed with ADHD. While I have ADHD, I'm not as knowledgable about the topic, but if you have questions in general about neurodivergency, I'll answer them the best I can. "But Mia, what does Neuro-divergent mean?" Great question! It means our brains don't function in a typical way, hence the term 'divergent', since we diverge from the typical. People who aren't neuro-divergent are called neurotypical. Other terms you might see in the comments are "Masking", "Ticks", "Social Cues", ect. If you're unsure what those mean, please ask! I will also make a FAQ once I get enough questions. ALSO! If you also have experience with the topic the question posted relates to, feel free to post your answer too! EVEN IF I'VE ALREADY ANSWERED IT! Neuro-Divergency is a HUGE spectrum, so everyone's experiences are a bit different. Seeing these varying perspectives will likely be beneficial when it comes to educating others.
NOTE: This project is meant to educate others about neurodivergency and autism, NOT to shame others for their ignorance. Please keep the comments kind and civil. This is supposed to be a positive and safe environment. #Autism #Neurodivergent #ADHD #AutismAwarenessMonth #April
