Space or click for next - full screen for best quality ➽ I decided to make a tutorial for how I do my lighting for my art! Please note that there are so many other ways to do this and this is not the only way, this is just the easiest way in my opinion! Also, this tutorial is ONLY for Procreate! So sorry if you use a different device, all though this might work on another device such as FireAlpaca but I just don't know, now, onto the tutorial! Step 1) Here I have a basic drawing, just the lineart and color. Its fully colored and ready for shading Step 2) Create a layer above the coloring layer but below the lineart layer Step 3) You can use any brush you want for this part, but I usually use syrup because its the brush I use for lineart Step 4) Now go select a color! I usually use a dark purple color Step 5) Making sure you are on the new layer you created, start doing the first part of the shading process. This is only the first part there is more to come! Looking at the photo, only shade under the lines where there is shadow, like in the photo- Step 6) Once you are done, it should look something like this- Step 7) Now, go to layers, and push the 'N' button on your shading layer Step 8) A section would pop up looking something like this- now, look at the 'opacity' slider and turn it down. It can be any percentage that looks ok to you on the drawing Step 9) Once you are done, you will have something like this- Step 10) After you have finished the hard shading, make sure you are still on the same layer, and push the 'magic wand' button in the top left corner Step 11) You will see a screen like this pop up. Push the button that says 'Gaussian blur' Step 12) A slider will show up on your screen, showing a percentage. Swipe your finger across the screen to blur your shading layer. Doesn't matter what percentage its at, as long as it looks good on the drawing Step 13) Once your done, your ready for more shading! Step 14) Combine your lineart, coloring and shading layer together to make a new group Step 15) Push the little arrow to close the group Step 16) Swipe left to open up a tab looking like this: now, push the 'duplicate' button Step 17) You have now created a duplicate of your group! Step 18) Push the group and a screen will pop up. Push the 'flatten' button Step 19) You have now condensed that new group into one layer! Step 20) Push this new layer and press the 'alpha lock' button Step 21) With alpha lock on, your layer should look like this: Step 22) Again, u may use any brush you what for this, I just use Medium brush because it gives you a nice soft shade Step 23) NOTE: MAKE SURE YOUR NEW LAYER IS ON ALPHA LOCK BEFORE U BEGIN! Step 24) Now, asses where the light/darkness is coming from, and begin shading! Step 25) The darkness in my drawing is coming from the right, so this is my finished shading Step 26) Once you are done, push the 'N' button on the layer and turn it down to a percentage that u like Step 27) It should look something like this afterwards: Step 28) Now, go back to the magic wand button and push 'Gaussian blur' to blur the shading Step 29) Finished blurring! Step 30) Now, if u want more shading, duplicate your group again Step 31) And flatten it Step 32) Now, put your new flattened layer above or below your original shading layer, and alpha lock it. You can un-alpha lock the other layer if u want Step 33) More shading to make it pop! Step 34) Blurred shading! Step 35) Now, to finish it up, I added a cool backdrop and text. Its a quote from Siege and Storm! Step 36) Watermark, so it won't be stolen! ➽ And.... The finished product! Its a scene from Siege and Storm! I really hope you found this helpful in some way! ➽ Credits Art and process by me! Quality died bc scratch hates me Character belongs to Leigh Bardugo Song: Devil town by Cavetown
