And here we are! Sorry it took so long to get this analysis out, I've been busy with state testing recently. Anyway, press right arrow or space to go to the next slide, left arrow to go back. My analysis will be here in the description. \/ (Check the upper left corner for slide numbers!) 1. We get a Turf War gameplay trailer! The stage is still Eeltail Alley from the Hero Mode trailer, so nothing new there, but what I did notice is that the stage name is in the bottom-right corner of the screen, instead of the bottom-left corner like in Splatoon 2. However, this is actually where it was in Splatoon 1, so it's an interesting change to see. Of course, the thing you probably noticed first is the nametags, which I'll be taking a closer look at in the next few slides. 1a. We can get titles now that everyone can see! They appear to be broken up into 3 parts: An adjective, a noun, and then another noun (Although the second one seems to be optional). This one is "Big-Money Man-o'-Wardrobe Regular". I'm thinking that you could get this one by spending a lot of cash ("Big-Money"), as well as shopping at "Man-o'-Wardrobe" a lot (probably the name of one of the shops). Also, at the bottom left corner is a hashtag and a number. On it's own, not very interesting. BUT. This number is different for every player, likely meaning that it could be some form of player ID, or a friend system! 1b. YARRwhal, the "Faithful C-Side Superfan". Maybe you get this by playing C-Side songs a lot on Squid Beatz if that returns? I don't really know, this is just speculation. 1c. AnemoneNo1, the "Southpaw Champ". I've heard a lot of people saying that "Southpaw" could mean that you can choose to be left-handed in Splatoon 3. While that would be pretty cool, I just don't think that's the case. First of all, every player character in this match is right handed, even this one. Secondly, the player customization from the reveal trailer didn't show anything about handedness. Sorry guys, I don't think you can be left handed. Although, I have a (VERY, VERY loose) theory that you could get this title from winning a lot of matches on some new map with "southpaw" in the name. But hey, that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY- 1d. VeronIKA, the "Third-Gen Ringleader". I don't even have any ideas for how you could earn this one. I would like to point out, though, ika means squid in Japanese, so this name is a pun. 1e. TakoTruck, the "Clocked-Out Turf Warrior". Probably from playing lots of Salmon Run and Turf War, clocked out means to go home after a job (working for Grizzco), and the "Turf Warrior" part is self-explanatory. This name is another pun, TAKOyaki is a type of Japanese snack that's often filled with diced octopus, among other things. 1f. Hirooooo, the "Inkless Office Drone". Can you...get an office job? Probably not, but it does make me wonder how you get that nametag. 1g. It's kAyOSs, "Splatsville's Fahionista". Maybe you can get this one if you own a ton of different gear? 1h. And finally, C4L4M4R, the "Attention-Seeking Bass Dropper". You might get this for being the top target of several matches ("Attention-Seeking"), and also using Killer Wail 5.1 a lot (it's a bunch of giant speakers). 2. And the match begins! A few weapons have been confirmed to return: Slosher, Octobrush, Splattershot Pro, and .52 Gal. Also, unfortunately you can still only say "This way!" and "Booyah!". As for the gameplay itself, you can see a white glow around everyone for a few seconds after spawning (and respawning, too). This is probably a short period of invincibility, meant to prevent spawncamping. In red, I circled something interesting, there's a grate platform that you can only get to from the spawn launcher thing. Pretty minor, but I just wanted to point that out. Also, in the top left corner you can see that spectator mode will return and was used to film the trailer. 3. Notice how the bow shots look here, and remember that for later. Also, we get to see the Splattershot's kit: Suction Bomb and Trizooka. 4. So... .52 Gal has Splash Wall again. I think this might actually be okay, but I'll explain why later. 5. The Splattershot Pro has the Crab Tank and the Angle Shooter. The sub weapon activates almost instantly, traveling in a straight line, leaving behind a thin trail that applies a point sensor tracking effect to anyone that touches it. If it hits anyone when thrown, it deals an as-of-yet unknown amount of damage (you can tell by the flash). Nintendo also announced in a tweet that it can reflect off of walls and the ground, so you can locate someone around a corner. 6. Here we see the Splattershot foolishly walking directly into a Charger's laser. Criticism aside, we see that the Splat Roller has the Big Bubbler special, which it deploys to help the Charger. The special shrinks a VERY small amount when shot, but shrinks a lot when the top is hit. Interestingly, there's also a Squid Beakon attached to the Bubbler.
7. The respawn screen. You see the nametag of the person that splatted you, and a bar that shows how low it'll be until you respawn. Three gear abilities are confirmed to return here, Special Power Up, Special Saver, and Ink Recovery up. 8. This new special is the Ink Vac, and together with Splat Bombs makes up the new kit for Chargers. The Ink Vac sucks up enemy attacks, then releases a shot similar to a Rainmaker shot that is larger the more ink was sucked up. 9. Look at what I circled. That shot also came from the Tri-Stringer (the bow), but barely painted at all, and exploded after a second, very different from what we saw earlier. The bow has 2 levels of charge: one for painting, and the second shoots those firework projectiles. 10. Octobrush has the Zipcaster and Suction Bomb! Just as many speculated, using the grapple ability or your main weapon makes the special run out much faster. 11. The Zipcaster grappling. 12. The Crab Tank in action! It has rapid fire mode that is 3 shots to splat, and... 13. A slower, more powerful mode that gives it a one-shot. 14. Killer Wail 5.1. This special actually doesn't seem too terribly powerful. It tracks opponents, but only lasts for about 2 seconds. Giving Wall to .52 should be fine, since the special doesn't actually give it any extra survivability. 15. The Slosher has Splat Bomb and another new special, Triple Inkstrike! You throw 3 markers like burst bombs, and the Inkstrikes land where you throw them. 16. Proof that you can throw 2 Angle Shooters with a full ink tank. 17. Squid Roll DOES give you invincibility...for about half a second. Not too broken, actually. 18. Interestingly, an Inkstrike marker that lands before the end of the match will go off, but the one that landed after the timer didn't do anything. 19. This map is HUGE! Just 49% is 1322p, for reference, 60% on Snapper Canal in Splatoon 2 is 1344p! Also, both of the Judds are fuzzier now. 20. The ending screen, you get medals now! Probably how you get nametags. 21. And the release date, unfortunately not summer. Oh well, gives them a few extra months to make Splatoon 3 even better! Coincidentally, September 9th happens to also be my birthday. Thanks for reading all of this, have a great day! Credits: Nintendo owns Splatoon 3 and the trailer. My remix of Clickbait, the original song is owned by Nintendo.
