He and his twin brother Hester had always been very close, but as they got older, Hester began to grow jealous. When they were 17 he poisoned Aster, leaving him weak and disabled. Aster immersed himself in books despite being nearly blind, and came across a book speaking of an entity called The Eye. Believing that this creature could bring his vision and health back, Aster summoned it and promised himself to it.
