This is Sunrise, my adorable inside cat! He showed up on our porch during a snowstorm this year, and hadn't left after a few days. Someone came to look at him after my mom made a Facebook post about him to see if he was anyone's cat, as he was very friendly and would climb up on my back. The person said he was very sick (we didn't know how sick until the the end of March/early April). She took him to a rescue, where he was given medicine and neutered. He came back to us the day he was neutered. He was still sick a few days after he came back and wouldn't eat or drink. We took him to the vet to find out if he had pneumonia. He did not, but needed fluids. Probably a week after that, he entered an altered mental state. The person who got him back to us thought it was rabies. We took him back to the vet and they did blood work. He had slightly more than the normal amount of liver enzymes, so he was metabolizing something. But that wasn't the major thing. The blood work showed he was positive for leukemia. That was why his sickness hit him so hard when he came to us. His leukemia isn't cancerous, but it severely compromises his immune system. It's highly contagious, so we can't have another cat. At his last appointment, they gave him shots for an allergic reaction he was having to something. He's expensive, spoiled, and we love him. ❤
I just unnecessarily write his backstory with us.... Oh well
