✦ hey! this is my opinion on a certain guideline which I'm not too happy about (SCG). press flag if you want to hear music (it activates if you click) and click for slides ✦ d i s c l a i m e r /!\ this is only my opinion! i have nothing against the Scratch Team but I feel like this rule is almost like a framework for art theft and just disrespect tbh. /!\ WOOHOOOOOO IT'S TIME FOR AN EPIC BATTLE OF RESPECT AND REMIX CULTURE!! no. Embrace remix culture. Remixing is when you build upon someone else’s projects, code, ideas, images, or anything else they share on Scratch to make your own unique creation. Remixing is a great way to collaborate and connect with other Scratchers. You are encouraged to use anything you find on Scratch in your own creations, as long as you provide credit to everyone whose work you used and make a meaningful change to it. And when you share something on Scratch, you are giving permission to all Scratchers to use your work in their creations, too. i have a few... problems with that. 1. I share stuff but I'm not saying "take whatever you want and I don't even need/want you to let me know" 2. sure but uh just because that's the general rule doesn't mean people can't choose to be respected if they DON'T want people to use their stuff... 3. also this means for example someone's VOICE as a recording and even people's images of things and including pets... are you really ENCOURAGING the use of people's personal stuff? i know you could argue "just don't share it then" but that's just saying "either suck it up and follow our rules or don't share anything" and is really in a way squeezing people into a corner and forcing them to choose to between being disrespected or being limited and not allowed to share, like scratch is for. the thing is i understand Scratch is under the Creative Commons license but at the same time does that mean people should ALL be happy with someone using EVERYTHING they do and make and have? without permission too? Scratch Team, I'm not sure about you but I think the part "encourage" is literally making a framework for theft/ like "you may use anything you find on scratch" and "you are encouraged to use anything you find on scratch" have a huge difference in tone and message- and a lot of the people here are kids who either will end up NOT giving credit, CLAIMING IT AS THEIRS and when people remix a project then they often end up NOT making changes such as like the example in the project! as said: RECOLOURS. ARE. NOT. RESPECTFUL. cause like st says a meaningful change well WHO KNOWS what sorta weird or random stuff may be considered! the fact that it contains REMIX in the title if you didn't get rid of it?? from my point of view and the information you have given, Scratch Team you keep talking about respect but you haven't said enough about why people can recolour, take stuff without even informing people and whatnot to convince i think most of us that you really care about it I think you need to make a whole lot clearer what qualifies as a meaningful or significant change, because i AM good at english thanks, and know that recolouring isn't really that meaningful OR significant. Remixing is for BUILDING UPON SOMEONE'S CREATION, not for CHANGING THE COLOUR OF SOMEONE'S CREATION and once I said "If you won't change anything, even recolour like the Scratch Team said, then just don't remix cause there will be no point" and then I get a MESSAGE FROM ST AND APPARENTLY I WAS SAYING DON'T REMIX hh ✦ t h e e n d ✦ that's the end! thanks for listening to my opinion <3 what do you think of this? do you agree? disagree? feel free to let me know in the comments! this is not an attack! this is simply my opinion and I have not used offensive language, phrases OR targeted/exposed/etc specific people so as far as I am concerned I don't believe anything needs to be reported and removed. music is Alldaylong by Dreamcatcher :D © heres-my-opinion, may 2022
