Out of the Woods

Instructions

The mist swirled around,making it hard to see. I squinted,wanting to see something, but it was pointless. "Is this a dream?"I whispered. The wind started to howl and the mist thinned. I felt a chill go up my spine. I looked around,I was in the woods and there was a path in front of me. There was also a sign,it pointed to the direction I was going in and said 'To the witches hut.' I had a strange feeling that going down the path would end badly,but I didn't have anything else to do. So I followed the path to the witches hut. The witches hut seemed to have two floors,but was still very simple. It was covered in vines,and seemed to be made of wood. There was a mix of green and purple light coming through the window. The place had an eerie feeling to it,but I felt drawn to it. My body moved toward the door and knocked before my brain could tell it no. A feeling of anxiety and dread washed over me as the witch opened the door. She was elderly,and a bit frail looking,but my gut told me that this was just a guise. Her face was wrinkled and her silvery-white hair covered her left eye. "Hello dear, please come in."She said moving out of the door way. I felt like I shouldn't go in so I told myself to avoid going in at all costs. "Uh,n-no thank you, I just needed directions on how to get to the nearest town."I said hoping she wouldn't try to pressure me to come inside. "Oh,well I might have a map in here somewhere,why don't you come in and sit down while I look."She replied,giving a smile. A smile that she meant to look kind and inviting,but seemed sinister to me. "Oh no,I wouldn't want to impose."I said, really hoping she would give up. "Don't be silly dear,come on in."She said grabbing my arm and dragging me in. My heart felt like it was caught in my throat, I couldn't even protest. "Here dearie, something to snack on."The witch said handing me a tray of... something. I grabbed it,sat on the chair and waited for her to leave the room. 'Run,run,hurry.'My brain screamed at me to leave. I sat the tray down, trying not to make too much noise. I got out of the chair and quietly bolted towards the door. I tried to open it,but it seemed to be locked. I went to unlock it,but there wasn't a lock,the door was being held shut by wood like vines. "Going somewhere dearie?"I heard her unsettling voice from behind me. The vines enveloped the whole door and it disappeared into the wall. I grabbed my magic pencil from my pocket and turned around. The witches eye was uncovered,her eye glowed purple and the area around her eye looked like it was made of wood. "The Wooden Witch." I whispered. My friend Rockon's mentioned her a few times. She laughed and four long wooden, spider like legs grew from her back. I drew a hole in the floor using my pencil and she fell in. I hurried over to the window,climbed out and ran as fast as I could. The trees moved at her will,and attempted to block the path,but I moved quickly enough to get past them. I didn't have a plan and I didn't know where I was going. And to make matters worse,she seemed to control the forest and it was dark. I drew a flashlight,it was bright enough for me to see at least half a foot in front of me,but dim enough so that the witch probably wouldn't see me. I kept running and stayed on the path as best as I could. Eventually the trees started thinning out and the moon was shining brighter,I guess it had been blocked. I turned off the flashlight and slowed down a bit. "Where'd they go?"I faintly heard the witch yell. I kept going down the path and eventually I made it out of the woods completely. The path led to a road,there was a sign,one arrow pointed the to path I was on and said 'Haunted Woods'. The road apparently led to the Music Rural. I gave I sigh of relief,I knew I could find my way back to the clubhouse from there. I was finally out of the woods.
