This isn't a picture of the actual bug I've found, but after doing some research I found that what I've found is a Black Firefly Larvae. Right! Fry is in her larvae form and will be for about 2 - 3 months. At first I thought it was some crazy kind of woodlouse (rollypolies, sowbugs, etc.), because they roll up when threatened as well. But another thing I thought was weird was their glowing butt. Yes, that's right, larvae have glowing booties too. I'm taking care of Fry (Thinking about keeping her, I've owned a lot of bugs in need, including a baby praying mantis, a caterpillar, and a carpenter bee -- I also took care of an injured snake until her wounds healed. She's still in our garden eating the pests; shoutout to Millie the snake). At least until she becomes a firefly.
Diet: Earthworms, slugs, snails. aside from the earthworms, Fry and her friends are good to have around a garden. They're primarily carnivorous, so they don't eat plants. But they will sometimes drink nectar from flowers toward adulthood. They eat daily. chop up the earthworms so they don't have to rip them apart; but you can just put live slugs and snails in the container with the larvae. :) Bedding: No more than 3 inches of dirt and/or soil in a medium sized container. (I'd suggest a tupperware container with holes on the lid)
