As an apprentice, Barkpaw was on a hunting patrol and got lost in the forest. He wandered, trying to find the way back to the patrol but ended up accidentally scaring rabbits. The rabbits lured a fox to Barkpaw, while he hadn't noticed and had stumbled into a bush. the bush led to a large hole, big enough for a clan to fit in. Barkpaw had kept that secret, and when he got out the fox was already there. The fox attempted to k!ll Barkpaw, but just in time Frosttail and Shadowclaw, his parents, saved him. Unfortunately, they suffered injuries but had survived through them, all because Barkpaw summoned up his courage and fought the fox to save his parents. Barkpaw decided to go back to camp with no more than 2 squirrels and a mouse. Barkpaw reported to Flamestar, the former leader of Doveclan { his former clan } . So A patrol chased the fox away, and Barkpaw was made a warrior as he was brave and tried to defend his family. He was named Barkleap for how amazingly good he was at leaping. Many moons later, Doveclan got in a fight and Barkleap protested to fighting, as he thought it wasn't right to finish something by violence. To his suprise, his parents defended him and agreed. Flamestar, who was a battle-hungry leader exiled them. Barkleap revealed the hole he had found when the fox attacked. Shadowclaw and Frosttail was proud of him, and suggested that he made it a clan. And so he did, naming it Thornclan.
