-=-=- !! IMPORTANT !! -=-=- This game assumes you already know how to play Kirby: Chronicles of Dream Land! If not, the original demo will give you a quick run-down: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/342659449/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- One fateful day in Dream Land, the Rainbow Bridges connecting the seven Rainbow Islands were destroyed, their shards scattered about the islands they once linked! Around the same time, King Dedede began acting up - he was on a mean streak even worse than before his reformation! Determined to get to the bottom of this, Kirby collected the pieces of the Rainbow Bridges and stormed the Dark Castle. And now, the warrior of the stars is face to face with his arch-frenemy, a familiar foe yet twisted by something... New to this game is a rudimentary form of items! Hover over the ITEM button, and you'll see how many healing items you have left. You start off with two, and you'll need to make good use of them to pulverize this powerful penguin! Be careful, though. The RUN function is disabled in this battle - you can't run from a big fight like this! -= CHANGELOG =- 19 May 2022: Initial release 2 Feb 2023: Removed the random element from one of Dedede's Phase 2 attacks, and made another one less unwieldy to dodge; increased Dedede's HP, but removed the 2x HP property, reducing his effective HP from 160 to 120; made Dedede's HP bar not take so long to fill up

It was unprofessional and unpolished, as many Scratch projects were. I then spent the next year polishing that demo to a shine, still not expecting it to get a whole lot of attention. Needless to say, it got a whole lot of attention. One day, after a long hiatus, I decided to log back onto Scratch, and found my inbox well into the quadruple digits. I don't know how or why, but one way or another, my little project had blown up. Hundreds of love-its and favorites, and many thousands of views. My game was popular, even one of the most popular Kirby-related games on this website! But the real kicker, above all, was Failboat's YouTube video, entitled "New Fake Kirby Games." This video featured Failboat and a few friends hopping onto Scratch, looking up "Kirby," and just seeing what showed up. Overall, there were a few that were impressive, but in the end they were all joked about light-heartedly. No harm in it, of course - Scratch is inherently pretty limited, so it's no surprise that nothing it had to offer could really impress an outsider like him. Nothing, that is, until Chronicles of Dream Land. Nobody laughed at it, nobody commented on its flaws. All there was was adoration. Failboat loved my game. And honestly, that's the best thing that's happened to me in a while! Seeing my game be appreciated by someone I looked up to was a rush the likes of which I hadn't felt in a long time. So, to Failboat, his friends, and all the people who helped make Kirby: Chronicles of Dream Land's first Battle Demo as big as it was, thank you. I appreciate everything the community has done for my game. And yet, I still can't help but feel like the game was... underutilized. While it does certainly have its own merit, the game was always meant to be built upon. I mean, come on. A single Wheelie with two attacks? That's not a complete game. I had intended it to be used as an engine, a framework on which to build battles of your very own. I hope this little battle can help everyone see that this engine has more to offer than two attacks on a basic enemy. Also, this doesn't mean the full game is back in development, and a battle such as this likely won't be featured in the final product. The story blurb in the instructions is describing the events Kirby's Dream Land 2. Credit to Drshnaps of The Spriter's Resource for an additional sprite or two of King Dedede, and HertzDevil for ripping the FamiTracker instrument packs used to make the music. I think I also used it to make the music in the original battle demo. The King Dedede sprites are from Kirby's Dream Land 2 and colorized by me, and the background is also from that game, modified and colorized by me.
