++ her gaze set on her usual sitting place. if you hadn't figured out what bailey's daily early-morning routine was, well,, it was simply watching the sun rise. bailey didn't always seem like the type of girl to fall in love with a simple sight, but the calming view always managed to, somehow, take her breath away. and since she adored the beach, it was always a plus to watch it from one of her favourite places. bailey sighed to herself, a feeling of pure calmness, as she slowly sat herself down, round about her usual place. she laid her tail down beside her, letting it rest on the soft sand, and bath in the sun's morning light. lifting her gaze, she took in the beautiful view before her. the sun, rising slowly, high into the sky, casting its familiar yellow light, with the ocean below it, glinting and sparkling, and the coral reef, even farther beneath that, showing its wonderful colors. and yet somehow, the sigh bailey let out this time wasn't one of happiness. it was one of sadness, almost annoyance. you see bailey's species, mer-cats, have an outdated view on certain subjects. such one being the lbgtq+ community. bailey had been taught from a very young age that, anyone apart of that community was bad, and not to be respected nor put up with. the reason? none really. probably traditions. but bailey had also known from a very young age that,, she wasn't straight. quite the opposite. bailey had always thought girls were more prettier than boys, and around the time she was 11 moon-cycles, she got her first crush. a girl, if I might add. but more on that later. baileys mother, the queen of the coral reef, was deeply homophobic, so bailey could not tell her that she was lesbian. bailey flicked her tail, suddenly snapping back to the present. she must've zoned out,, the sensation of the sun on her back had gotten warmer, meaning the sun had risen higher. she let out another long sigh. she shouldn't worry about what her mother would think. she liked girls and she couldn't change that. a small smile emerged on her face. no matter what, she would always support herself, be their for herself, look after herself, and be herself. the smile widening, bailey cast her gaze back out towards the sun rise, a new found confidence pulsing through her. the end! phew,, that took a while! but it was really fun to write :) thank you for reading if you got this far! :: credits :: art by me design by @_Spearmint all writing by me
