13 years ago, several asteroids hit the earth. Their radioactivity levels were unprecedentedly high, and they contained large amounts of an airborne toxin scientists were at a loss to identify. The immediate area around the impact was evacuated of all survivors, and research facilities grew around it, earning the place the nickname of "Camp Meteorite", due to the large numbers of scientists and researchers working full-time at the site. A global panic began as people began to wonder what effect the unknown chemicals released by the asteroids could have. However, as no strange results surfaced, the panic began to calm. The scientists never managed to identify the toxin, nor could they find any effects produced by it in mammals. After more than a decade, most had nearly forgotten about the event, although Camp Meteorite was still running. However, now that the children born after the impact are reaching puberty, strange symptoms are beginning to emerge. Many youths of the ages of 12 and 13, mostly in the nearby city of Devlin, are now developing extraordinary powers. All kinds of strange abilities. Superpowers. A new age is on the horizon, for the city, and also for the world. How many teens will use their newfound powers for their own selfish purposes? Will law and order persist, or will Devlin, and possibly the globe, collapse into anarchy? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GENERAL INFO • This project is for roleplay. All roleplay should happen in the comments here. There is also a sign-ups studio here: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/32016306 Fill out the bio, wait to be accepted, and you officially have a character. • The world of this RP is exactly like the real world up until the point of the Meteors. All of history is the same up until that point. Events after that point, between the impact and the beginning of powers, would also be mostly the same. However, I have decided that COVID-19 never happened in the world of this RP, because I really just don't want to deal with that in roleplay. • Time irl and time in-rp are a 1:1 ratio. A month in real life equals a month in the RP. It may be a good idea to note the current date at the start of an ORP. Also, the date and time an RP starts is the date until it is finished or a timeskip happens. Hopefully that all makes sense. • As you might have realized reading through the last paragraph, this will hopefully be a long-term roleplay. Assuming it stays active. Please keep this in mind when deciding whether to join. • This will take place in Devlin, Oregon, a city on the West Coast of the US. Devlin is entirely fictional. • The thumbnail in the project is made from a stock image I found on the internet. If you think you can make a better one, put it in a project and send it to me. I cannot guarantee that I will use your art, but it will certainly be appreciated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RULES • Read the entire description before making a bio. • No OP characters/Mary Sues. • No OP powers. • Banned powers: Mind control, Time travel, Telling the future, Invulnerability. • Hate the character, not the rper. • Don't roleplay until accepted. • Only staff can accept bios. • Your character does not have to have powers. In fact, I would encourage a decent amount of powerless (normal) characters. • Keep in mind that the powers only emerge at puberty. So characters below the age of puberty can't have visible powers until they're older.
