"You're it!" I yelled at my sister as I tagged her bright tie-dye t-shirt. "Why do we always have to play tag?" she sounded exasperated. I felt proud, as the older sibling it was my job to be that embarrassing and annoying sister. I was much faster than her so after five minutes of chasing me she gave up. "I'm going to go get some water," she muttered. She strolled over to where my mother was sitting, my mom's face was buried in a book. "Your water's here," she said pointing at the water bottles, she didn't even lift her head up. As Lila sucked back as much water as possible, I sat down on a swing. The park was quite large but we were the sole occupants. I gazed at the dark clouds that hung over us. I felt a bit uncomfortable, they looked ready to cause a scene. "BOOM!" thunder banged, it echoed through my head. My little sis being way too cautious ran with inhuman speed towards our car screaming the entire time. Where was that speed when we were playing tag? "Lila! Calm down!" my mom hollered, "Come on Kayla we're going." "Okay." We rushed to the car where Lila was waiting, she looked anxious to leave. "Unlock it!" she begged. My mom unlocked the car and we hopped in. Once we all got in the car, more thunder boomed and rain began to fall. We drove back home, bright bursts of lightning illuminated the sky. Lila kept mummering "Hurry up, Hurry up." She acted like she was about to die. Her eyes were filled with fear. The car ride only took two minutes but it felt like much longer. As we pulled up the driveway the car was pelted by, wait was that hail?! The storm had decided that a normal storm wasn't good enough, so now we were being attacked by hail and lightning. Such a great combo! By great I mean really destructive. Once inside our house Lila ran to the basement as fast as possible. "EEEEEE! EEEEEE! EEEEEE!" a loud siren like noise came from my mom's phone. "Well Kayla, we might have a tornado!" she said and showed me her phone. There was a big glowing orange alert on her phone that had a tornado warning on it. "Great!" I yelled. Frustration was coursing through me. "Let's just go to the the basement!" We rushed downstairs and turned on a light. Lila was curled up in a ball. "Is it over yet?" she asked in a hushed tone. " No, and it won't be for a while." my mom declared. As if fate had been waiting for that comment, the lights went out and our power outage began.
This is more dramatic than the real storm, and I am using fake names for my sis and I. The power did go out for 9 days tho, just got it back recently.
