HERBS`~~ (ALL MED CAT MUST KNOW WHAT THESE HERBS DO!) Chervil A sweet-smelling plant with large, leafy fern-like leaves and small white flowers. ~ Leaves and roots are chewed to extract the juice. This juice is applied to infected wounds to help treat them, and may also be eaten to treat a bellyache. Yarrow A flowering plant with green jagged leaves, a tangy scent and bitter taste. ~ When chewed into poultice, the leaves of yarrow have many uses. The poultice may be applied to wounds to extract poison. The poultice may also be ingested, which will make a cat vomit up toxins. The ointment can be used to heal cracked pads well. Dock leaves A common large-leafed plant, with a tangy smell and taste ~ When chewed into poultice, Dock is commonly used to soothe scratches, thought it stings when applied. The poultice may also be applied to sore pads to soothe them. Borage Borage has a number of uses in medicine. When chewed and eaten, helps queens produce healthier milk in larger amounts for their nursing kits. Eating this herb also brings down fevers, soothe bad bellies and relieve stomach tightness. Poppy Poppy seeds can be chewed to help a cat sleep, soothe shock or distress, or ease pain. The herb is dangerous for nursing queens, however, therefore it's not used on them. Catmint Found near twoleg gardens, abandoned or not. ~ Treats greencough and whitecough.
Thyme Small, fragile, thich, sticky leaves with fresh tang. ~ Thyme grows best in hot and sunny locations, and is best found near Mountainclan and the foot of the hill where Mountainclan lives. Stems are ignored. ~ Thyme is chewed on to calm cats. It can also be used to treat anxiety, calm cats who are in shock down. Juniper berries Commonly grown in areas not wet, so best found under thick trees of Brambleclan. The berries are harvested. ~ When chewed and eaten, it helps soothe bellyaches, gives strength, and helps troubled breathing. Moss Found near marshy forests, as well as by the river. Both clans will frequently gather fresh moss and discard old moss, as it's so common and easy to find. ~ Moss is used to soak up fluids like water, useful for cats who can't get a drink, normally not used other than by cats who cant leave a den. It's used as bedding, being changed out frequently. Cobwebs Are one of the most commonly used herbs among cats. Cobwebs are pressed over wounds to soak up and stop bleeding and may be used to bind broken bones.
