♡ hey! it's aleia ;0 co-leader of non-fi for july 2022 ∘ this is my promo for swc ^.^ ♡ there will be lots of info, so brace your eyes ;) ♡ ✄ what is swc? ∘ good question! ;) here's the pre-made answer for formal reasons // SWC, or Scratch Writing Camp, is a triannual virtual writing camp, in that each participant sets a word goal for themselves and aims to write that number of words from the beginning to the end of camp. But that's not all we do - SWC also entails activities to help you with your writing, fun challenges with creative limitations, and other tasks that you can complete to earn your cabin points. The camp runs from the 1st of July to the 31st of July and it's entirely online, so you aren't required to check in - though we encourage you to update words and finish activities as often as possible. // ∘ and here's my completely informal answer // swc - aka scratch. writing. camp. is exactly what it sounds like! a writing camp. on scratch! :> for any of your irl friends/family who 'don't 'do' scratch,' most just think it's a website just for coding, but it's not. it's a community, so much more than just a place to 'code.' that's why there's a writing camp! it happens three times a year: march, july, november ( if ur fancy the word is triannual ;) ) and basically there's a bunch of writing prompts you complete for 'points,' which will go toward your cabin. ( there are fifteen and each represents a cabin genre :00 ) in your own cabin, your word count ( how many words you write ) will contribute to the overall points your cabin has in the end! since this is on scratch and in studios, nothing is 'mandatory,' but it's appreciated if you're active and complete the writing activities ;) [ main cabin : https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/31668456/ ] ✄ why should i join nonfi? wow ur just full of good questions :00 if you're like me, you're a writer obsessed with fantasy, adventure, mystery, and all amazing fiction genres. basically ALL of the cabins for swc are fiction... except for non-fi. so they basically took all the non-fi stuff (newspapers, magazines, true stories, etc.) and chunked it into one cabin and said done, there we go :D but anyways, if you love fiction, and absolutely can't imagine writing any non-fiction... *coff coff totally not me coff coff* then you definitely need to expand your horizons. research can be fun! documentaries are (most of the time) non-fiction! so are informational videos, projects, etc. etc. yes. time to stop hating on non-fi! >:] ( also we are going to have a lot of fun little activities and surprises- i mean, no, we're not >;) ✄ how do i sign up for swc ??? omg u will do great for non-fi, all these questions ;D u should be a reporter for the non-fi cabin news! truth is, the signups to be a swc camper are closed, but backup camper signups will be open July 1st on 's profile! ^^ ✏ credits ∘∘∘ ~ thumb made in canva ;> ~ for creating SWC ~ , , , , , , and for hosting SWC in the past ~ and for hosting this session ~ and for co-hosting this session
