Briar waited anxiously for her name to be called. She was trembling a little, and she hated herself for that. /Showing weakness already? I’ll never make it back alive./ She shook her head angrily, thinking of Nectar and desperately trying to find hope. She thought about how the room will be and what she will do once she was inside it. ‘Remember, you’re last and the gamemakers will be bored. You have to think of something that’ll blow their mind away.’ She thought about what her mentor had said earlier and laughed bitterly. /The best thing I can do is not embarrass myself in front of the gamemakers./ Then her name was called, and she took a deep breath. She quickly rose, she didn't want to keep the gamemakers waiting, not wanting to start from the wrong foot. She stepped into the room and instantly was almost knocked over by the wind. She wavered a little, cursing herself for being small. She straightened herself and was about to walk inside, trying to seem confident, when someone from the stand said, “Briar Larson, district twelve?” /Oh no oh no oh no please no/ She replied shakily(“..yes”) and tried to see who called her, hoping with all her mind that the voice didn't belong to President Imperium. Yet..she couldn't deny the voice. A chillingly familiar voice. She found herself staring straight at those steely eyes..and the eyes were staring back at her! It seemed the president was getting impatient. /What a great way to start./ She forced her legs to move and took in her surroundings. At once, she noticed that every piece of equipment was suspended several feet above the ground, and grinned, slightly confident - well, jumping or climbing was her strength, and she maybe she could endure the wind, after all, she lived in district twelve - she was used to harsh climates. Maybe she had a chance at impressing the gamemakers. There was just one problem. She had no idea what to do. Luckily, she spotted a sword hanging lower than the rest of the equipment. The plan began to form in her mind, and she looked around for something sticky and found a double-sided tape. Perfect. She hooked it onto her fingers and jumped onto the handle of the sword. It was slippery, but she managed not to fall off, and the blade went up and hit the next sword’s handle. She carefully attached the tape to the handle and the next sword’s blade, then jumped to the next sword handle, being careful not to step on the blade. She repeated the same process until she ran out of swords and knives. She looked back and saw a long chain of swords and knives and grinned. The gamemakers were probably wondering what she was doing, but she was trying to show them her strengths - creativity, balancing, jumping with accuracy - and it seemed to her that she succeeded. She landed on the floor and picked up a round shield. She ran towards the chain of the swords, put the shield on it, and jumped inside it. She slid down the sword rail(if you could call it one), and when she got to the end, she jumped up and snatched a spear, landed on the ground painfully - the wind made her lose balance - and stabbed it through the dummy. It didn't go straight through the heart, but to her satisfaction, the arm was ripped off. She bowed and just stood there awkwardly until the gamemakers excused her, then she went out the door, with her tail straight up. /That went well, at least better than I thought it would./
Couldn't think of a title lol
