This is my entry for OPEN horse art contest!! By the way, I finished this in two days. It’s my first painting of a horse. I tried my best! This horse is inspired by Ginger, a horse from the book ‘Black Beauty’, she was Black Beauty’s best friend. But one day they were separated, and Ginger was living a terrible hard life from then on. Her health was deteriorating. One day, she meets Black Beauty again, and tells of her story and her wish to die, to live in peace away from cruel humans. A few days later, Black Beauty sees a chestnut-coloured horse dead in a cart, and is sad but happy that it is Ginger. Because, Ginger’s wish, to be free, had come true. In this artwork, I wanted to portray Ginger, who deserved a much better life. She wished to be free, so I thought it would be in a forest. And tried to made her looking happy. Although Ginger is just from a story, and ‘Black Beauty’ the story is not real, it has left a huge impact on me, and there might still be horses in the world out there suffering like she did in the story.
Any suggestions about how I can improve? Feel free to say it in the comments! I’ll be glad to accept feedback and work on it. Thanks to @HorseyQueen09 for the competition! The book which I mentioned is ‘Black Beauty’ by Anna Sewell. By the way, I know on my profile I call myself Ann, you can see my name at the bottom of the painting.
