Q&A Q: How do I enter? A: Fill out the sheet in the notes and credits, and after I accept you, start writing! Q: When I put my username in the form, does it have to have the @ sign before it? A: No, it doesn't. Q: How long do I have to write? A: The deadline is August 1st but if I don't have a lot of entries before then, it will go on another month. Q: If I use one of the ideas you give me, do I have to change it a little? A: That is preferred (So I don't know your story), but if you don't want to, then that is ok. Q: What is the first codeword? A: Your favorite book. Q: Do I have to change this when I remix? A: Yes please. Q: How many prize-givers do you want? A: At most 10. Q: What's warriors? A: Warriors is a book by Erin Hunter. It's a series about wild cats that live in Clans. Q: Can I write a series? A: Yes, you can. The whole series won't count in the contest, however. Only the first book. 2. Writing stories I like I like a lot of stories with romance and action in them. So, maybe combine them! Here's an example paragraph: Dimond turned around, looking franticly. She needed to find Alexia. "Alexia!" she called. She kept running. Soon she was out of breath, panting hard. She could run any longer. Flopping down, the hard ground nocked her out. That's an action paragraph. Here's a romance paragraph: Jim walked into Lily's house. "Lily?" he asked, unsure if she was home. He walked farther into the house, remembering she was mute. In the kitchen, Lily was cooking breakfast. He walked up to her. "Hey there, Lily." She smiled gently, as in say hello back. Now, time to combine them: Will rode his horse along the streets, looking for Rose's house. Soon he found it and walked inside. "Rose?" he asked. He rounded the corner of the house. Gasping, he ran up to her. Rose was dying. I know, I know, I said no blood and gore. But you know what you just read? That is allowed. Someone in your story can die, just make sure it's not too violent. If you use action and romance combined, you have a 95% chance of winning 3. Second Codeword The second codeword is your favorite animal. Mine would be a bunny or cat. 4. How you write stories (Optional) So, most of you may write differently than me. I'm going to talk about how we can edit so you can write like an author! (Not saying you don't, I bet you do. Let's just see how you write can be edited to write better) Let's say you're writing about an existing trip to the beach. Here's how I'd write it: I LOVE the beach SOOOOOOOOO much! I would play in the water every second! Ok, maybe not, but that's how much I love it! I have so much fun! That's an unfinished version. Now, how would you write it? I don't know; I'm not you (I just realized this is very lame :P). Let's see what I can do: So, let's say your teacher asked you to write about a famous guy named... let's say he was named Mark Havingson. (I know, not a real guy). Now, you don't want to do this. Let's say you wrote this: Blah blah blah blah blah. There, done! No, you're not. All you wrote was blah. Let's do this better: Mark Havingson had a lot of dogs. His favorite was Dill. Dill was very fun and loved Mark. They got married. The End. Yeah... I wouldn't marry a dog. Take off of this. I may not have helped very much, but hey! It was funny, wasn't it? 5. Big, long stories NOTE: If you're going to write a series, then this may help. Please try not to make your stories too long. A good length would be at least 3 pages long. If your story is too long, it will 1) take a long time to make and 2) may not be made in time for the results. Here's an example of a short story: Mike ate breakfast. He got married. Then he died. The End. That's too short. (And that's boring). I subject NOT doing anything like that, or you have a 1% chance of winning. A good version would take too long, so I'm going to skip that. A good series or/and story should include the following: -Action -Romance -Adventure -Bad guys and good guys These are some good things to add in series. Oh, and if you do a series, remember to give it a name! 6. Comics You can write a comic. So, a good comic has art. Some people use different websites, some use Scratch. I don't have any at the time, but you can comment some. So, comics should have dialog, not writing. Oh, and they should also have pictures. 7. Third codeword The third codeword is your favorite Scratcher. For me, I would say . Well, that's all! Have fun, and I can't wait to see your stories! :D ~RickyMyBuddy
