The breeze brushed over the open field causing the tall reeds and blades of grass to sway and dance in the warm sun. Voles and rabbits scurried around and birds flew within the sky as the sun’s rays shine from above. A single tree was resting on this peaceful field that overviewed the grass. Resting underneath the cooling shade was the black furred she-cat, her eyes resting shut as she felt her wind pull and run through her fur. Opening her eyes she looked up at the branches that hung overhead, this was calm. Purring gently she stood and shook out her pelt, allowing her body to stretch from laying down. With the gentle song of a robin nearby she walked out from the shade, the light almost blinding as the casting of shade left from behind her. “Nightshade,” a familiar voice said, causing her to turn to see the joyful gaze of Thornpad behind her and seeing his taller form walk towards her made her heart skip and face slowly warm as her eyes watched him. Just as the tom stood by her side his tail went to brush along her slimmer side causing her tail to flick behind her, “Want to head back to camp?” The smoothness in his voice made the she-cat melt and all she could do was nod, but with the flick of his tail under her chin as he passed he dashed off leaving her standing there in silence. That was a challenge, she thought before running after him. Ever since they were kits she was always faster than the gray furred tom so it wasn’t hard to catch up to him. Letting the power leave her legs she jumped onto the tom with a laugh yet when she opened her eyes hoping to see the kind green ones she instead saw furious amber ones. Vineripple under her with her lips back and blood splattered across her face. Who’s blood? She didn’t know and just as she moved to get off of her her body was tackled away from the tabby and before she could speak hatred filled eyes looked down at her. Even from within the dark storm that broke the once peaceful moment she could see Thornpad looking down at her. “Thorn-,” claws dug into her throat and before she could finish the world fell around her. Her body now falling in a black void, petals falling around her and all she could do was wait as wind pulled at her. Finally the world went black around her as a loud crack echoed around her. Gasping she raised her head as thunder snapped across the sky. Now in the safety of her own nest surrounded by her clanmates, her heart beating loudly in her chest. Suddenly as her body calmed down she finally heard the loud, pounding rain that hit the top of the Warrior den. Ears folding down, she stood up and when she did she felt the way her paws lowered in the grass. Hastfully as panic filled her chest she walked to the entrance of the warrior den and only then did she realize the extent of the pouring rain. In the middle of the clearing a large pool started to form with dark muddy water. Eyes shot around before her legs went to try and run though the sloshy ground as she ran into the leader den, “Stagleap!! The camp is flooding!” her yowl was loud jolting the warrior awake and just as another loud crack of thunder echoed through the territory did the leader nod at the warrior, “Go warn the clan, now!”
Nightshade had run around yowling over the rain into dens and startling cats awake. Her black pelt now drenched from the rain as she poked her head into the medicine den to see the grumpy medicine cat trying to hastefully gather herbs together in tight bundles for him to carry. Suddenly a flash of gold showed from the corner of her eyes and she turned to see Honeypool run past her and into the nursery as her paws caused water to kick up as it pooled around her. Nightshade nodded to herself before she ran over to the nursery. Inside the nursery Eaglewatcher was slowly getting to her paws, her belly rounded with kits. Sedgedrop, another nursing queen, had kits around her panic mews leaving there mouthes. Honeypool holding one in her jaws as Nightshade went over to the rounded queen. “Do you need help? I saw Ashcloud by the entrance waiting for you!” her voice was loud even close to the she-cat as she tried to speak over the loud storm. Standing next to the she-cat she helped the queen walk to the entrance before the brown she-cat huffed “Nightshade I got it go help Sedgedrop.” Looking at her for one more moment she nodded her head and went to the she-cats. “Mommy I’m scared!” the black furred kit squeaked out as her yellow eyes gazed up at the calico. Honeypool’s eyes landed on the warrior and she gestured down at the remaining kit. “The camp is filling up fast so we better hurry,” she said through the calico colored kit in her mouth. “Of course I’ll follow you and make sure no one strays away,” she nodded as she pushed them almost out of the nursery. Water was now up to her knee and she watched over the queens and kits closely. All was going well before a loud yowl was heard from behind her. Sedgedrop looked into the large pool with panic as a small black and white kit dipped lower into the water. Without thinking the black furred she-cat jumped into the deep pool. Water filled her ears as she felt her paws around trying to carry her body through the water. Teeth clenched on wet fur as she lifted her head up over the water. Swimming as she turned to feel her claws scrap against the muddy ground as she once again felt the rain pound against her back as the now drenched kit hung in her mouth. Honeypool’s concerned eyes looked into hers as if silently checking if the she-cat was alright “Are you alright?” Thornpad’s worried voice filled in next to her as she turned to nod, “Are you okay?” Nightshade said through the scruff of the kit with just as much worry as the tom stood over the two trying to block the pounding rain on them both. He always was more worried about others than himself. She could see the panic in his eyes so she brushed against him before she followed after the group as more cats funneled out. Many cats now swimming out of dens and yowling over the echoing thunder and loud rain around them. Finding the queens once again she turned and followed after the group. Other warriors quiding the group to safety as behind them their camp was flooded and destroyed. Thornpad and Honeypool at her sides as they walked away, leaving there home to go away in ruins.
