Hold lmb on the hair to zoom, press space to see base hair I used. Btw, this "edit" does have lineart. it's just getting covered by the shading. if you look closer on the back hair side, you can see the dark lineart. and underneath the pink you can see a darker vers. of the magenta part of the shading. How I made this;; 1. make your lineart. I use medibang, so I simply choose the "force-fade" or whatever it's called. in ibispaint x, there is a control panel with the same effect for all brushes. My canvas size is "1000 x 800" so my brush size was "10-5" 2. after your done the lineart, simply use the bucket tool to fill in your base color. if you have two different colors, simply choose the "alpha lock" so that you can't color outside of the base. then you color in the second color. if your hair fades into a color, do the same but use the "airbrush". 3. after doing so, make a new layer, clip it, set it to "multiply", and get a darker color than your base. if you have two colors, choose a color darker than your darkest color. then you just draw where the base shadows are. then lower it's "opacituy" to your liking. 4. the you merge the two layers. and re-color the lineart to be slightly darker than your base. after doing so, merge the lineart with the base. then make a second layer, !! don't clip it !! , and take a lighter color than the base. if you have two colors, choose one for each. if you have two colors fading into eachother, choose the lighter color and only make it a little lighter. 5. then as you can see on my edit, you just choose a thicker brush size. preferably, in my example, "25-15" and you trace the lineart. !! Don't make it perfect !!, it's not supposed to be perfect. if it covers the lineart completely, than it won't have to same effect. 5. after doing so, make a new layer, set it to "multiply", !! Don't clip it !!, and shade the top of the hair. you must choose where the "roots" are. for example, mine is in the middle of the hair conecting both the "pink" and "black" of the hair. then in where the pink seperates itself, is the root. 6. draw several lines from the top going to the bottom, don't make them the same size as each other. you want them to look "natural" after doing this, lower your "opacity" to your liking. add a new layer, set it to "add" and choose a smaller brush size "5-3" 7. and draw hair strands, like in my example, the lighter lines. you can just follow the flow of the hair you just made. then add another layer, set it to "add" and choose, once again a brush size "25-15" then, in the middle of your hair you draw little lines like so. 8. lower your opacity. then make a last layer, keep it to "normal" and change you brush size to "3-1.5" and choose the normal base color. you then draw your hair strands. make sure it still follows the flow of the hair. 9. merge all your layers, in order. start from the bottom layer, besides your base, and start merging it into your base. 10, ta - da! your finally done!! !! Always use the force-fade for every part. except the base coloring. !!
