hello and welcome to my ☆ that girl series ★ where i will be informing you about how to become the best version of yourselves! just so you know, none of these projects in this series is about changing massive things, such as face shape, height etc. i believe that everyone is beautiful, but it does take a while to realise that. in this series, i will be explaining IN DEPTH instead of just listing things with no reason (like in my old account), so please bring a snack or something to drink while reading these! all these are poc, lgbtq+ etc friendly, just because someone is gay or is black doesnt mean they cannot be beautiful. i also highly recommend not using the term ‘pretty’ or ‘hot’ when complimenting people, unless you really reallyy know them, because to me (and some others) it doesnt give the same effect to when you are called beautiful. just a tip:) — — — hair care is one of the most vital things to care about, not to just make it healthy, but to also make it strong + immune to breakage. common mistakes are shiny hair, no knots and no dandruff/lice. these are things to keep in mind, but the things that prevent these things happening can make your hair worse than it was before. first off, if you have knotty hair, please DO NOT worry. i have had massive knots in my lifetime which really make you angry and stressed. my secret? well, its pretty simple. my secret is simply brushing my hair. sounds easy, right? well, not quite. i am that kind of person who has motivation so early in the morning and then loses it five minutes after doing something. so dedicating time to brush my hair was something i hated. i would usually brush my hair before school, just once, and if there were any knots i would just smooth my hair so it looked decent enough and put my hijab on. that was it. but actually there is a whole LOT of things than just brushing it. first of all, dont use a hairbrush to get rid of knots. many people dont know this, but hairbrushes are made for people on the go, to brush their unmessy hair just once, with no knots. what you need is a hair COMB. a wide toothed one is recommended for people with thick/curly hair, and narrow toothed for the people with thin hair. hair combs are designed to untangle knots, and keep your hair smooth. it goes to all the places in your hair which is why its ideal. so yes, youve got a comb. now just comb your hair. find a knot? put the comb down and untangle it with your fingers, NOT the comb. if you just violently brush the knots, it rips your hair out which isnt very nice. (also untangling with your fingers is much easier and less pain:D) if you have massive knots, i usually use argan oil or coconut oil. to get rid of them. you still need to brush it ofc, and dont use too much or it will be greasy, but it is very good for making those knots pain free. yay!! your hair is now smooth and knot-free. how to tie it up? i recommend these ;; • let it down, but only if the air is clean. or if you arent doing anything active (if you will be doing sports this isnt the right one) • a ponytail, daily hairstyle for me:). please do note that ponytails that are too tight (too close to the scalp) can be harmful, so please just stick to low ponytails or, high ponytails OCCASIONALLY. • a bun, messy buns are best for this. tight buns are fine, but can have the same effects with tight ponytails if they are worn for too long. • pigtails/plaits, probably the best on this list. you can wear them whenever, working out, sleeping, shopping. also a bonus if you want wavy hair the next morning without using heat products:0 these are the most casual ones i could think of. i totally recommend pigtails, i use them to sleep comfortably without the hair tie itching my head(>_<#) i also like to use them to hide my hair (i wear a hijab) so i can tuck it under my shirt without the hair going messy and itchy everywhere (like a ponytail). okay, back to the point. what happened if your hair is not shiny? well, you probably havent used conditioner yet. conditioner moisturises hair, and if your hair isnt moisturised, it becomes frizzy. what if i dont have conditioner? invest in one. i would research the ones you find on the shelves in your local store. check the ingredients. after all, this is gonna be the life saving thing to your hair. for curly + wavy hair use ;; • “dove” absolute curls conditioner • “briogeo” curl charisma conditioner • “living proof” curl conditioner for frizzy, damaged + dry hair use ;; • “himalaya” damage repair protein conditioner • “bblunt” intense moisture conditioner • “herbal essences” coconut milk conditioner for all hair types use ;; • any morrocanoil conditioners (i use this one:O) • any olaplex conditioners • any shea butter conditioners you can also use banana/coconut hair masks! conditioner can be used daily, you should use conditioner twice a week if you have shiny, smooth and undamaged hair, and daily if frizzy. thats it! hope these helped:)
