{Setting: Sol Dimension, Aedrift} Mephiles had been ordered to be well guarded by a squadron of trusted soldiers. Ruby insisted on coming, and was allowed to as long as she never strayed from the guards or Marian, who was also ordered to tag along. After hours of searching, it seemed hopeless. Guard: Well, Allister? Mephiles: I'm thinking. *he in truth had no idea how to find these emeralds, and had no idea where to begin* What do they look like again? Ruby: *rolls her eyes, bored* Rectangular? shiny? different colors? Hold magical power that only a member of the royal family can use? Mephiles: And why do I need to find these so quickly? Ruby: Like I said, they're magically powerful. Marian: Plus, the others that arrived here shortly seemed to be after magic gems too. Mephiles: *thoughts: "this complicates things. With these slow wits tagging along I won't get anywhere. But the child knows about the gems, so here we are. I need to isolate me and the child. Soon"* ... Suddenly, Mephiles could feel a searing pain in the back of his head. It wasn't a headache, and the pain vanished quickly, but he felt a tug of warmth radiating to his left. It felt like he was tracking the chaos emeralds once again, but the warmth was new. Mephiles: *suddenly bolts in the direction of the pull; he knew everyone else would think he's trying to escape but he didn't care; it's not like they could catch him. And if he found what he thinks he'd find, then they won't care either* Ruby: *sees him run and goes after him* Hey! *the knights followed* The chase included Mephiles running through flower beds, up hills, and over bridges with the search party in tow. Mephiles made no effort to stop them, but instead let them catch on. If there were others looking for the gems, he needed to find them faster than he could with guards holding him back* {Space} Eventually, he was led to a gorge that led a long ways down. He stopped and began to survey the area. He eventually came to the conclusion that it was very unstable. Before he could plan a way down, the guards came closer than he would have liked and began to head towards him, intent on recapturing him. Ruby rushed ahead of them, with Marian calling for her to come back* Ruby: Stop, Allister! *on her way she tripped and fell into Mephiles' arms* {Press Space} Mephiles: *accidentally catches her, and before he could let her go cracks were heard around the two. The gorge was going to let them fall. He tried to rush out with Ruby, knowing he still needed her, but he failed to accomplish this and the two of them plummeted down the side of the cliff, tumbling down to their doom*
