Yesterday, on the 24th of June, in a ruling authored by Justice Alito, the supreme court's conservative majority took a sledgehammer to reproductive healthcare in America, overturning Roe v. Wade and formally voting down federal abortion protections. This marks the first time in the history of the U.S. that the court has taken away a constitutional right. With abortion now in the hands of the states, tens of millions of people will lost access to abortion care. Do not think this Court will stop at abortion rights. Eliminating the right to abortion now puts other rights protected by the 14th amendment at risk. Marriage equality, the right to engage in private sexual conduct and the right to use contraception are all areas that we must pay attention to following this Court's decision on Roe. It's disgusting that we have to fight for what is LITERALLY basic human rights, but I guess that's just the state of the world right now. - - If you’re outraged, you’re not alone – Turn your anger into action. This decision is WRONG and will harm MILLIONS. Every person, no matter where they live, how much money they make, or what they look like, should have the freedom to make their own personal health care decisions. " "The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned a fundamental right. This decision is wrong and does not reflect what we know to be true: ABORTION IS ESSENTIAL. Abortion restrictions and bans fall hardest on people who already face discriminatory obstacles to health care: people of color, people with disabilities, people in rural areas, young people, immigrants, and those having a tough time making ends meet. We MUST keep fighting for a future where abortion isn’t just legal, but also accessible, affordable, and supported in all of our communities, everywhere. Abortion is a HUMAN RIGHT. " "I’m part of the majority that believes . RT if you are ready to fight for our human right to access abortion!" - - Again, this is what I've compiled from merely one day of research. If I find more resources, I'll add on to the list. I'm also encouraging everyone do their own research and to let me know if they find anything helpful that I have not already mentioned above.
