Is this even allowed? lmao I hope so- . . Anyway, hi everyone! ^^ I’ve always wanted to post more consistently on here, not just with PFPs and ATs but with my own “content?”...idk tbh- but I hope you get what I mean haha.. anywayssss I decided to do that by posting this project! It’s not much but I’m trying haha ^^; so yeah…hope you enjoy! . . oh yeah, and if you want a more detailed explanation of my process, scroll on below! ^^ . . : art process : > step one: rough sketch! Pretty self explanatory, I sketch out what I want to draw and use references! I used a reference here but I can’t show it because it’s my actual face haha >. step two + three : lineart! I lower the opacity of my sketch and add a new layer on top of it, then draw trace over it with cleaner brush strokes! I wanted to make the lineart cleaner for this piece to make my life easier ^^; > step four: skin base color! normally artists fill in all of the base colors at the same time before rendering , but for some reason I don’t do that haha…not sure why, I saw it somewhere and wanted to try it out and liked the process so I just stuck with it ^^; > step five: rendering skin! Here I used a darkish pink and purple to shade the skin! I like doing this because I can easily adjust how light or harsh I want the shadows to be by lowering or increasing the opacity! I also add blush to give more life to the piece! Also decided to give myself “full” lips since I don’t usually do that haha..then I added some highlights around the nose, cheeks, and lips! ^^ > step six: hair base color! here I chose the color I wanted to use for the hair and colored it rather messily! I like doing this haha…I feel like it gives me more freedom somehow? Don’t really know haha > step seven: rendered hair! here I selected a slightly darker color than the hair and applied the color where I wanted the shadows to be! I repeat this process with a slightly darker color than the original shadows, so basically giving the shadows a shadow? Don’t know how to explain it lol…but anyway! After that I outline the shadows with a slightly darker color than BOTH shadow colors! Then I add highlights wherever I want them! To do this I select the base color for the hair and change the blending mode to Add or Add Glow! I also add a blue highlight at the top of the hair :) > step eight: eyes base color! just chose what color I wanted to the eyes to be and colored it in haha > step nine: rendered eyes! Here I just go crazy and shade the eyes however I please! I usually keep the eye shading consistent, but when it comes to adding highlights it’s not always the same haha.. I won’t go into too much detail on how I shade them because it’s a lot + idk if I can explain it with words ^^; I then add white around the eyes and a shadow to give it more depth! Then I add a white highlight to the eyes to not make her seem…depressed? Idk haha > Step ten: glasses + hoodie base color! here, I noticed that the glasses looked a little off so I fixed them with the liquify tool! Then I added a blue light at the top of the eyes and a white brush stroke around one side of the lenses! Then I just chose the color for the hoodie haha > Step eleven: rendered hoodie + colored lineart! Here I just shaded the hoodie like I shade the hair! I explained the hair process so I won’t explain the hoodie process haha..but after that, I colored the lineart! I do this because it makes the piece less harsh and a bit more soft I guess. To choose the colors I want I just select the darkest color of whatever part of the piece I’m coloring the lineart for and then make it slightly darker! I don’t think that made sense but idk how else to explain it lol > step twelve: editing with liquify! At this point the piece was pretty much done but I felt like it didn’t look like me, so I asked my family if they thought it looked like me and most of them said that the chin was too pointy and that my face was more round, so I edited the chin to make it more round! I also added a shadow behind me haha > step thirteen: lighting + finished product! Here I added some lighting, filters, and made the face more round! And that’s it! The piece is now finished!
