~~~~ In the void, you are alone. Other unlucky souls are trapped too, but the chances of you even sensing proof that they exist is like finding a piece of black paper in pitch darkness. Many call for help, but their voices are nothing but a faded echo. After some time in the void, you feel your grasp of reality fading, fading, fading away until you are stuck in pitch darkness, only rarely hearing calls of others. If you are lucky, you may eventually escape from the void though in reality, but you can't feel it. Normal people and things in reality can't hear you, see you, and just can't sense you. You are essentially a ghost, once you return however, you communicate with other escapees of the void, which will usually help cure your past loneliness in the void. Even after you escape, your soul is bound between the void and reality. ~~~~ Sometimes, the void is unstable and ends up opening a see through portal into reality. This grants a few lucky souls way to see reality again, though the portal usually closes after a month. This portal is also a one-way ticket into the void. Once you step through from reality, you will be stuck like every other soul in the void. Living beings from reality however, can hear and see some souls from reality through a void portal. ~~~~
