= Beasts from Fantasy = ~ Khepera (kep • era) 1. Appearance - The primary color must always be a dark shade of purple as shown in the reference sheet, with the exception of albinos, who have a white primary color. - The secondary color is a vibrant color, all colors except for black and white are allowed. - The tertiary color is also a vibrant color, but it must be a different hue than the secondary. It must also be lighter. - Eyes are always pure white, with the exception of albinos who have a pinkish-red lining. - Size will never be any larger than 15 inches, the average adult reaching ~14" 2. Physical traits that serve a purpose in evolution - Beneath the front arms are flaps that act as gliders, so that they can swiftly descend from forest canopies either to change locations or escape from predators. - The secondary and tertiary colors are bioluminescent, meaning that in the dark, they glow. This helps them to locate one another in darker spaces to prevent getting lost. - They have prehensile tails. This means that like a monkey or ape, they are able to use their tails as a sort of fifth limb in order to better grip tree branches. 4. Food - Khepera mostly have a diet of berries and fruits, but they are omnivores, so if it comes to it they can and will eat small rodents or insects smaller than them. 5. Predators - Since they are quite small, they do have many predators. They are edible to anything bigger than them, but their vibrant colors are able to trick most of them into thinking that they are poisonous. 6. Food Chain - The Khepera are very low on the food chain since they aren't great predators and are prey to many animals. 7. Khepera live in colonies in jungles and forests, making nests inside the trunks of trees and among the tree canopies. They rarely have need to go to the forest floor other than to drink, so most of them spend their lives in the trees. 8. How does your beast care for the sickly, elderly or young? - Since they live in colonies, the Khepera are able to protect them in nests that are well protected, such as those carved into tree trunks. They will bring them food, and provide an escort when they need to drink or otherwise leave the nest. 9. Are your beasts group creatures or solitary? - The Khepera are very social creatures, living in groups of up to 100. All of them play roles in their colony's success, similar to ants. - The only reason one would live alone is if it was exiled from its colony for causing a threat to any other Khepera, and couldn't find another colony that would accept it.
