Your parents call a family meeting. You and your siblings rush to the living room wondering what it is about. “We are thinking about selling our land. Since we are too old, we have decided to let you guys decide.” Knowing you want to keep it will convince your other siblings. You ask, “Who is buying and what is he going to do with the land?” Your mother responds saying, “Some rich buyer. He wants to build something on half of it, and keep the other part as it is.” Your sister says, “We should obviously sell it. We would be getting more money.” You decide to speak up, “We should keep it.” Your father says, “We don’t care what you guys choose.” Both of your parents walk out. Leaving you and your sister alone in the room. Your sister decides to share her reason why, “Farming doesn’t make a lot of money anymore. Plus, he’s going to only use half of it.” You counter her saying, “They don’t have to uphold their promise after we sell it. It’s technically their land afterwards. Plus, we wouldn’t have to pay for fruits and vegetables. Just the ones we can’t grow here. Inflation is going up, everything will be raised. There is such a beautiful lake there as well.” Your sister thinks for a minute and says, “Taking care of the farm would be hard work. We go to school and our parents are getting older.” You think about how to respond to that. It was valid, but then you remember something. “We could use technology! We could install something that turns on the sprinklers during the day. We could create something to help get the crops. We just have to be creative,” you say. Your siblings agree with you and you tell your parents. They are fine with the option and they call the buyer and tell them no.
