Theodore’s eyes widened as he looked at the screen. “Nova- do you think this is where Claude could be going to every Saturday?” He turned the laptop to his sister. “No way! Claude wouldn’t do something that dangerous!” Nova replied. “But then why would they be going out every Saturday, right before 8pm..?” “You want to follow them next Saturday, don’t you?” she sighed. “..Maybe.” By the next Saturday, Theodore and Nova had formed a plan to follow their older sibling. They would follow Claude quietly when they went out, under the excuse of completing an already done project with their friend. Both of them would wear black as to not get spotted. “I.. look, I’m worried about them too.. but if it really is illegal, won’t we get in trouble too?” Nova muttered. Theo glared at her. “Huh, are you scared?” “No!” Nova nearly shouted. “I mean, not at all! Let’s go find out what this is all about.” Theodore grinned. “That’s the spirit!” Around 8pm, Claude told their parents that they’d come back home late, just like they did on every Saturday. Theo and Nova nodded to each other as soon as Claude left the house. “Mum! Can we go meet up with Ly? We were working on a school project together, but we couldn’t complete it.” Nova said, trying not to sound suspicious. “It’s already past 8. You can go to his house tomorrow to complete it.” Their mother, Felicity, said. “We’re required to have the project completed by tomorrow! It’s just a little bit left, and it’s 40% of our grades!” Their mother sighed. “Just be back soon, okay? And call me if you get into any trouble.” Theo and Nova hurried out. “I feel guilty about lying to mum.. but we have to do this.” Theo muttered. “Um, not to interrupt but where did Claude go?!” Nova said. The two rushed in the direction where they had last seen Claude on their bike. They saw Claude from a distance, following them on tiptoes. Claude got off their bike, walking towards a building. Compared to all the buildings on the same street, it looked huge. Theo and Nova’s eyes widened as they saw their older sibling showing a pass to the guard stood at the gate, and then walking into the building. “What do we do now?! You didn’t say we needed a pass!” Nova whispered. “I didn’t know about it either, alright? I’ll try to talk to the guard.” Theodore responded. “Uh, excuse me, sir!” he called out. “Pass.” the guard said in a monotone voice. “C-can we go inside to meet a family member? It’s kinda urgent so w- I’d really appreciate if-” “Trespassers are not allowed to enter without a pass.” The guard said as if he was talking from a script. Nova shook her head, peeking out from the wall she was hiding behind. “Just give up.” she mouthed. “Wait! I’m sorry to bother you but do you have someone named Claude L. on your entry list?” The guard glanced suspiciously at Theodore. “Please, I’ll pay you if you need-” The guard cleared his throat. “Claude L. Born in 2003… Yep.” Theodore, despite being so sure of the fact, was still somewhat shocked. “Thank you, here you go.” He said, pulling out a few dollars from his pocket and handing it to the guard, rushing off towards where his sister was. “Is Claude really working in there?” Nova asked, despite already knowing the answer. “..Yeah.”
