Gem sighed. “I hate it when people do that…” she muttered. Suddenly, a fork of lightning pierced the sky and a crash of thunder rolled through the clouds, making Gem nearly jump out her skin in surprise. She peeked out of her window and saw thousands of hostile creatures rising from the ground. Her eyes widened in shock and she immediately yanked the curtains closed and slumped down on the floor. “It’s okay.” she told herself “I can just hide in here until it’s over.” But then, Gem thought of her villagers. She couldn’t leave them to be devoured by the creatures! No. She would have to fight for her village, and for her friends. With renewed courage, Gem rose to her feet. She walked over to her armour, which was hanging on an armour stand and took it off it’s mount. She put it on, brushing her hair out of her eyes and straightening the leaf on her head. She grabbed her sword and bow and stepped out into the crimson night. Her sword glowed with enchantments and her armour glinted in the moonlight. Villagers that were cowering in fear stopped and looked up at her, waiting. All the mobs that had been attacking the village stopped also, and they stood for a moment, contemplating what to do. Wind rustled in the trees and for a moment, everything was silent and still. Perfect, almost. Then, the mobs all began to walk towards Gem. She adopted a fighting position and readied herself for the battle. Gem ran towards the hoard, her hair flying behind her, her sword swinging. She fought off many of them but they just kept coming. Every group she would take out, another would arise. She fought for what seemed like hours, and she felt herself growing tired. She knew she couldn’t go on for much longer. The blood moon was high in the sky now; it must have been about midnight. All of a sudden, the mobs stopped coming. Had she fought them off? Gem paused to catch her breath. When she did, she noticed the moon was getting brighter. It was pulsing red, like a heartbeat. She knew this could only mean one thing. The blood moon was in it’s final stage. A single mob rose up from the ground. It glowed red and wielded a bright, black ball of energy. Gem stood her ground. The creature fired the black energy like a laser at Gem. She put up her shield to try and stop the energy but it was no use. She was blown backwards by the blast and crashed into a hut. She fell to the ground, unconscious.
