.--------------------------------------------------------------------------. You and your friend step into the old rusty building. The both of you were looking for a place to live, as the both of you have waited far too long to see the real world. Someone else you knew suggested that their old place could be salvaged, and sent some pictures as well as the address. Looking at the pictures, you both knew this was no place to live, but thought it could be fun to look around at the creepy abandoned building. So here you are. Walking into an old, moldy, collapsing building. "Hey, I heard there used to be a second floor at one point, but it just completely caved in!" Your friend says, almost poking fun of the place. "Woah." The two of you don't say much as you proceed through the house, entering the living room. It smelled like rat corpses, and the couches were torn up with entire chunks of them scattered around the room. The room looked like it never had any organization or neatness, there was no trace of it ever being a 'living' room. "Hey, it looks like someone intentionally ripped up the couches." Your friend says, practically reading your mind. You don't say anything, being someone who is easily scared by basically anything. But now your fear starts to leak like water out of a bust-up old tin can. Speaking of which.. you notice a shine out of the corner of your eye, coming from the kitchen. "Lets go see the kitchen. I can't imagine how grouse it must be, hah!" You try to lighten the mood. It doesn't help seeing that you are completely right. The kitchen is the most disgusting thing you've ever seen, smelt, and been in. It smells of all the most disgusting foods you can think of, but rotten, and the ingredients mainly consist of rat eyes. "Yuck!" You shout. "Oooo, I wonder how bad the bathroom is!" Your friend, inconveniently wonders. You instantly become 10x more terrified just at the thought of it. Bathrooms always scared you, considering you have severe claustrophobia. "Hey, wanna make a bet?" Your friends asks you, but dazed by the terrifying thought of the bathroom, you blindly say yes. "Great! If you are brave enough to run the bathroom faucet, and send me a picture, I'll give you all my arcade tokens! And if you don't, you give me all your arcade tokens." She grinned. "Deal?" You hesitate. The both of you loved to collect arcade tokens, it was your favorite hobby. And currently there was a competition within the whole friend group- and more- to see who could collect the most. Your friend was in the lead, if you won the bet you could taste that sweet, sweet victory! But the weight of the challenge began to sink in. It might sound like a silly thing to bet, but the thought of turning on the faucet scared you out of your mind. But there was no going back now. "Deal." "Alright, I have to go to an event, see you later!" Now you're alone. Standing in front of the dirtiest, grimiest, and most terrifying door ever. The door to the bathroom. You pull out a latex glove to open the door with. There was no way you'd touch.. that. You place your palm on the round door knob, sending a cloud of dust everywhere. You cough in the dust. The handle turns under your hand, and you swing the door open sending even more dust to scatter. This time, you held your breath. You step into the room and observe the room. The first thing you noticed was the sink, the biggest and only thing in the room. The faucet was covered in layers of rust, and grime filthed the sink. You scrunch your nose, the stench of dead rats was strongest here. The second thing you noticed was a vent in the corner of the ceiling. It was shockingly clean, probably the only reason you are alive in this horrible place. At this point you are afraid to move. Petrified at the thought of this. But winning this was everything. You approach the faucet. You raise your hand- the one with the glove- up to the faucet. You grasp the knob to turn it on, and yank it to turn on the cold water. To your surprise, the water comes out smoothly, and crystal clear. But there's something else.. a sound, coming from the vent. Like something was moving through it. The sound got louder the longer you had the faucet running, but you didn't have it on for long as you turn it off when you hear the sound. But when you turn the water off, the sound may stop, but it didn't retreat. You turn it on again, and the sound continues. You think to yourself, the sink must be connected to the ventilation in some way. You aren't so sure, so you turn it off again. And on. And off. And you're about to turn it on again. You reach out for the handle, and turn on the sink. And just then, a man bursts out of the vent and knocks you down. The last thing you remember is the strong scent of rats- live ones. .____________________________________________.
