Hold Z to jump; tap Z to hop, X to boost, and use the right and left keys. Double-tap Z to do a homing attack. Hit down midair to do a stomp. You do an air boost if you hit X instead. Stars are supposed to increase boosting power. There's a secret hidden within that gives you infinite boost...
